Ok We all know we want to meet and eat etc. Friday 13th April or Saturday 14th April are the days. Many are happy to go either night, others want Saturday. Vote your preference, and add a comment if you wish. If you're not coming plese don't mess with the poll. (OK that probably guarantees it will be skewed--I added a fun option for non attendees)

  • Rich, Leslie, et al: I think I might try to swim the 1000 on Friday, so unless you're planning to eat at 11 or so, Saturday would be a better time for me. It would be great to put actual faces to the avatars here. I just hope they have metal detectors at the pool and restaurant entrances so that gunplay is eliminated from the festivities. PS I highly advise any of you to swim the 1000 or 1650 on Friday. In terms of yardage, doing so practically guarantees you will be half over with your swimming before most people even hit the water for their first Saturday event. Plus there's a nice anesthetizing effect of residual exhaustion that can keep you in a fine state of mental benumbed-ment for the rest of the weekend. PS the Race Club was great, I have learned a new, much more efficient (albeit at this point, slower and more tiring) way to swim freestyle. Michael Phelps may have youth, genes, conditioning, historical greatness, the thumbprint of god, etc. on his side. But with this new stroke, who knows? It's going to take several years for it to feel completely natural, but I cautiously predict that by the time I hit my mid 60s (the "young" old years?), the much ballyhooed records of Mr. Phelps may be in danger! Oh--and I actually did swim a couple meets for Michigan! I may have come in last, but at least I did come in for the maize and blue!
