Ok We all know we want to meet and eat etc. Friday 13th April or Saturday 14th April are the days. Many are happy to go either night, others want Saturday. Vote your preference, and add a comment if you wish. If you're not coming plese don't mess with the poll. (OK that probably guarantees it will be skewed--I added a fun option for non attendees)
  • I might be able to come... if you all will accept an Oregon swimmer at your table. My swimming might not be great but I can down some carbs anyway. Not sure what I'm swimming yet. I haven't had much time in the water lately. First I thought I had an ear infection now the doctor thinks I have an inner ear disease. That kept me out for a week. Now my husband is going out to town next week so I have to stay home with our little one. And the kids team is on spring break until the Monday AFTER the meet. Who told them they could break right before MY meet?! :thhbbb: Alison
  • I want to come too. It sounds like fun! I will be cheering in the stands not swimming though. Can I still carb load with everyone? Swimmy :) I vote for Saturday. I don't like to cross over to the dark side of the river on weekdays. Traffic is horrible.
  • I'm going to try my best to be there for some of the meet on Saturday (just to cheer everyone on this year), and would love to meet up for dinner. I will probably have to drive back to Philly that night, so an earlier rather than a 9pm dinner works better for me. (Altho I could crash in DC with my sister-in-law so I guess I'm flexible on time...) Really? That would be fabulous! :drink: If you're not going to swim (better next year!), you could be the official photographer? Muppet's a real show off with the hair. I don't really want to dine at 9:00 pm either, and I'm sure the MD folks don't want to. I was thinking more like 6:30 or so? Do come Swimmy!
  • I will be at Boston Marathon Sat through the wknd. I can go Friday...but if the choice is made for Saturday....count me in for next time! We should have routine socials. Mollie...I swam with Penn State Masters before you joined and it became Big Cats. I will make an effort to contain myself and Julie in the pool from overswimming...BUHAHA I hope to meet everyone soon!
  • If you're not coming plese don't mess with the poll. (OK that probably guarantees it will be skewed--I added a fun option for non attendees) I'm glad you did, Rich. That's what I voted for. :joker: :joker:
  • Rich, Leslie, et al: I think I might try to swim the 1000 on Friday, so unless you're planning to eat at 11 or so, Saturday would be a better time for me. It would be great to put actual faces to the avatars here. I just hope they have metal detectors at the pool and restaurant entrances so that gunplay is eliminated from the festivities. PS I highly advise any of you to swim the 1000 or 1650 on Friday. In terms of yardage, doing so practically guarantees you will be half over with your swimming before most people even hit the water for their first Saturday event. Plus there's a nice anesthetizing effect of residual exhaustion that can keep you in a fine state of mental benumbed-ment for the rest of the weekend. PS the Race Club was great, I have learned a new, much more efficient (albeit at this point, slower and more tiring) way to swim freestyle. Michael Phelps may have youth, genes, conditioning, historical greatness, the thumbprint of god, etc. on his side. But with this new stroke, who knows? It's going to take several years for it to feel completely natural, but I cautiously predict that by the time I hit my mid 60s (the "young" old years?), the much ballyhooed records of Mr. Phelps may be in danger! Oh--and I actually did swim a couple meets for Michigan! I may have come in last, but at least I did come in for the maize and blue!
  • I voted for Saturday since my backstroke nemesis Mollie can only come then too. I will not be swimming the 1000 or 1650 though. I get all tuckered out after a regular 50. Rich: You didn't list restaurants! We have to eat something besides tabasco. Although feel free to sneak that into Mollie's or Julie's food. I think I mentioned on the other thread that Brion's Grill, Red, Hot & Blue or Joe's place were recommended by my coach.
  • We have to eat something besides tabasco. Although feel free to sneak that into Mollie's or Julie's food. Saturday is good :) Fort, the 50 back will already be over by then though so you may want to talk to someone having dinner with Mollie and I on Friday night if you want to slip in some tabasco. I'm swimming the 1650 on Friday night but remember last year being exhausted and ready to go home by the time I was done cheering/counting for all my distance buddies! So, YES, I'm changing my vote from "either" to "Saturday" since that makes more sense. Not sure if I can actually change my vote on the poll, but consider me in for Saturday dinner if that's the consensus!!! The way we're all getting pumped up you'd think zones was this weekend. HA HA!
  • The way we're all getting pumped up you'd think zones was this weekend. HA HA! Hey, do not begrudge me my two weeks to "train." He, he. Then I will engage in my one week "taper." Linguistics. I just wish I had a FS Pro like that cheater FlyQueen. When's the 100 back? Maybe if I "train" and you continue to fail to SDK, I can keep up this time.:thhbbb:

I have a regular suit style fastskin, but would need to go on a crash diet to get it on in two weeks! Man I was skinny last year! Maybe if I did more SDKs or even kicked off the walls I wouldn't have this problem. I went to the store last weekend to look at suits, but just couldn't justify the cost for another suit just because I choose to eat ice cream every night!
