We have a few grudge races amongst forum regulars coming up at Colonies Zones. They are:
Muppet vs. Dave Barra: 200 fly
SwimStud vs. Muppet: 50 ***
Fortress vs. SwimmieAvsFan: 50 back
Here's the poll. Place your bets; no limits on voting. All races should be hotly contested. All commentary, advice and cheering accepted. If anyone else has another grudge race, pile on.
Did Susan Williams, ex trialist, win that heat?
No, she was in the fast heat with Mollie. You better be in our heat!! And what's with the handicapping? Can I have a handicap for something? Not sure what though. I'll think it over during practice tonight.

Julie:
Search for Dave Barra's "handicapping" thread. It's hilarious. I think I should get another handicap because you are working out with two teams. No fair! I'm just going to my boring old health club gym tonight to swim in 86 degree water. Blech.
Jim:
It's not Barb/Ensignada. It's Barbara Clifford-Dicks, whom we train with. Wicked fast backstroker. Maybe I'll have hubby try to film that race. He will NOT be filming the 100 IM because that involves breaststroke. The odds of me being able to figure out how to get in on youtube are very slim though ...
My money is on Swim Stud. Fully recovered and unstoppable.
Fortress, no fair. I bet Mollie is swimming way more events than you.
That 200 fly race looks close.
:drink: to all.
muppet and i have the 200 free as well and if necessary, we go to the bay for the "rubber" match (but i will stand firm on a "no wetsuit handicap")
the big question is where are we going to eat? (no poll necessary, but reservations may be required)
Well, I am not in your Zone because I live in the Twilight Zone down here, but just based on forum chit-chat, I'd love to see Dave Barra and Muppet swim the 200 fly; that is a grueling race and although I have never seen a picture of Muppet in person, I did see Dave Barra in Swimmer magazine (March/April) and my heart pitter-pattered a bit. And I've seen a picture of Fortress and Swim Stud, and I'll tell you, USMS has some darn good looking folks in it, so I have no grudges I can swim against because Kaizen doesn't swim against me yet. So what I would like to see is PBs from everyone and an actual tie somewhere because that just never happens and the excitement of close races is thrilling; something I miss terribly.
I sure expect to see some video on YouTube of you folks!! And I did vote twice above in the poll. Maybe some year I can return and come to a LC Natl and swim the 800 or 1500 and see how well I fare against my age group!!

donna, you're making me blush! that caribean lighting (and tons of airbrushing) can make anyone look good! thanks for the good wishes.

I second this...I'm hankering for a Friday night get together carb up someplace...
I got curious so I looked up our heat:
Lane 1- 31.12
Lane 2- 30.32
Lane 3- 30.25 (Leslie)
Lane 4- 30.30 (Barbara)
Lane 5- 30.13
Lane 6- 30.20
Lane 7- 30.66 (Cheryl)
Lane 8- 30.57 (Julie)
Mollie was in the heat after ours. I remember that race SOOOO well because I looked up at the clock and couldn't even process what had happened. My Mom was watching from the stands and said that everyone just touched at the same time and it could have been anyone's race.
You've GOT to be in our heat again!!! I entered with that time and Barb is already entered with a similar time. You SHOULD have been in our heat in the 100 last weekend!!!!!!
i'm still not sure how i ended up in the fast heat for the 50 last year... anyone who knows me knows i'm sure as heck not a sprinter!!!
i remember seeing you guys' heat and thinking how crazy of a finish it was (and of course, secretly wishing i was in that heat, and not the one with SP and SW...)
i think i entered with a 30.62, so hopefully i end up in the same heat as you guys this year... but with my luck, you'll all end up in the fast heat, without me.
:shakeshead:
