You asked for it. I just got the OK to have an"informal" breaststroke clinic at Federal Way. It will be Saturday immediately after the Medley Relay(during the women's 500 free.) We have one lane in the instruction pool(not the diving well.) I thought who ever wanted to could show up and I'd help with your stroke. I'd love for some of the younger super breaststrokers to come and help too(Jeff, this means you,you too Jon,Jim your not younger but you'd be really welcome too, heck you too Peter,I hope I haven't insulted anyone by not asking them,Oh great I don't have any women listed ,sorry just come) See Y'all there.(By the way I'm at the Oregon coast for the week, which is great, but I have limited internet access.)
You know, you're awfully cocky for someone who is still 2s behind in the 100, 1s in the 50, and refuses to swim the 200 ever again.
I believe it's .4 in the 50 fly, and .7 in the 50 free ... and yes a second in 100 free and yes 3 in the 100 fly, but remember those are your taper times, and I haven't tapered yet ... typical I drop HUGE in taper ... so like I said, BRING IT!
As for the 200, I enjoy my shoulder health and feel no need to jeopardize that again ...
Sheesh, I'll say. They're taking all the fun out of travel meets! Of course, I never traveled alone as a 12 year old, but it sure was fun as a teenager!
Yes Kirk, and I am sure you were an Angel...
Heck half the stuff I did my kids can't do now because of how we fear the social issues. I don't know if it is any worse or that we just hear more about it because of the 24/7 world we live in. Growing up, TV used to stop at about midnight...both ways...in the snow...etc...
;)
Fort. I saw your times and you have to come.Bring Mini-fort and she can help teach. Y'all swim fast at zones. Our zones are at 3000 feet and I get altitude sickness on a ladder so I'll swim through them and I'm not supposed to sprint much by then anyway(yeah, right. The odds that I'll do the safe thing and hold back, especially in a relay are slim.:frustrated: )
I guess your kids really like you being there to support them at their big meets.
When I was growing up I rather liked going to Nationals with my team (NO PARENTS!) It was great, no comments from th peanut gallery, fun with my friends, even ran into some of my old teammates who where in Ft. Lauderdale on spring break from college. Sneaking out at night, shave parties, night time body surfing. Oh you don't need to know all that ....
We will miss you all at Nationals this year.
I invited my kids to Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale 2 years ago and both of them chose to go to school for their last 3 days than go with me and have a beach adventure and see their old lady, as my 9 year old calls me, swim.

Donna:
My mini-Fort is only 12, so she still really likes having me in the stands to cheer. Now, when she gets older ... Probably still, as long as I keep my distance. She liked going with me to Worlds last summer. But as a general matter, kids find masters meets a big :snore: I try not to inflict them on them and just go alone.
As for kids sneaking out and body surfing, I think that may be fun stuff we fondly remember, but our kids don't get to partake in as much. Mini-Fort is going to Eastern Zones in Buffalo tomorrow. At the team meeting, they made it very clear that, if the tape is broken/replaced on the door after lights out, the swimmer will be called to a hearing and probably expelled from the meet. Expelled for "deck shopping" too. Any worse behavior, e.g., girl steps in boy room or vice versa (or whatnot), and you're gone from the meet and maybe from your USS team as well. Possibly also banned from future USS travel meets. So it's a bit risky these days to be misbehaving even a little bit!

I think it's great that you arranged this clinic! I wish I could be there -- I would certainly attend. I hope all other forumites benefit!

It's still not too late to enter. If the way you swam last week-end is an indication you would do good in spite of all the setbacks during the past few months.

BRING IT, Some_girl, BRING IT!
