You asked for it. I just got the OK to have an"informal" breaststroke clinic at Federal Way. It will be Saturday immediately after the Medley Relay(during the women's 500 free.) We have one lane in the instruction pool(not the diving well.) I thought who ever wanted to could show up and I'd help with your stroke. I'd love for some of the younger super breaststrokers to come and help too(Jeff, this means you,you too Jon,Jim your not younger but you'd be really welcome too, heck you too Peter,I hope I haven't insulted anyone by not asking them,Oh great I don't have any women listed ,sorry just come) See Y'all there.(By the way I'm at the Oregon coast for the week, which is great, but I have limited internet access.)
That's because it's still over a year away :)
I bet I haven't swam a 200 *** since I was in the 13-14 age group!
You're right! We'll probably all be sick and injured again by then. Good luck with that 200 breaststroke. I don't think I've swum it since that age either.
It's Austin or bust, sis. Even if our shoulders are iffy, we should still show up and give it a whirl. Mini-Fort gave up her big zone meet to go with me to SF last year in August, so this year it's my turn. It's OK. It's part of that being a mommy deal. ;)
I guess your kids really like you being there to support them at their big meets.
When I was growing up I rather liked going to Nationals with my team (NO PARENTS!) It was great, no comments from th peanut gallery, fun with my friends, even ran into some of my old teammates who where in Ft. Lauderdale on spring break from college. Sneaking out at night, shave parties, night time body surfing. Oh you don't need to know all that ....
We will miss you all at Nationals this year.
I invited my kids to Nationals in Ft. Lauderdale 2 years ago and both of them chose to go to school for their last 3 days than go with me and have a beach adventure and see their old lady, as my 9 year old calls me, swim.
Donna
This year it is only virtual, alas. That is why someone better show up in Austin.
(Also regarding this post's actual subject, I may stop by with a teammate, if it isn't too many people already, and if she doesn't swim the 500.)
FlyQueen better show up at Nationals next year. We have to see who that title really belongs to!
That's what I am talking about!
Allen - I thought for a split second you wanted Me Jeff to come teach at your clinic. Then I realized that Cummings Jeff was probably who you meant, and then looked and saw his post. PHEW! Off the hook on that one! Thanks for bailing me out, Jeff (Cummings)!!!
I will definetely poke my head in!
How 'bout Austin? It seems like everyone is planning on Austin.
Austin 2008....COUNT ME IN. I'm already requesting no travel that weekend so that I can FINALLY go to a USMS Nationals. YAY!!!!
Yes, I live under a rock and just figured out that 2008 SCY Nationals are in Austin.
At the team meeting, they made it very clear that, if the tape is broken/replaced on the door after lights out, the swimmer will be called to a hearing and probably expelled from the meet. Expelled for "deck shopping" too. Any worse behavior, e.g., girl steps in boy room or vice versa (or whatnot), and you're gone from the meet and maybe from your USS team as well. Possibly also banned from future USS travel meets. So it's a bit risky these days to be misbehaving even a little bit!
Sheesh, I'll say. They're taking all the fun out of travel meets! Of course, I never traveled alone as a 12 year old, but it sure was fun as a teenager!
