.....including whether we can even walk upright. I think I crawled up the stairs once last year.
That'll teach you to not drink too much tequilla. :thhbbb: :thhbbb: :thhbbb:
I noticed that nobody has mentioned any of the top female swimmers yet? I guess Karlyn Pipes Nielsen is a definite shoe in for sure! ...And what about
Susan Von Der Lippe? Who else do y'all think would make a good candidiate for the top 6 Female Masters swimmers in USMS?

Darn Muppet, I was just going to say that they hadn't contacted me yet ...
Let's see ... Is it world wide or just US? That makes a BIG difference. My votes for US .. Nadine Day and Paul Smith ...
While I agree from a swimming perspective, I'd like us all to consider the ramifications of doing this.
Sorry, but I don't get this statement at all. Are you making a funny here?
Jim McConica for sure and our Paul Smith and I vote for Laura Val. Maybe I will make the list next year for long distance open water :rofl:.
I'm going to agree with Kirk about Rich Abrahams. The guy broke a world record in a 50 by nearly 1.5 seconds. Yes, a 50... not a 400 or 800... He's amazing.
Other men I'd pick: Paul Smith, Graham Johnston, Bob Strand, Dennis Baker
Women: Susan von der Lippe (this is my top female pick - I remember watching her race at SCNats... WOW), Laura Val, Dara Torres, Sheri Hart, Karlyn Pipes-Neilsen
This is for a US list...and there are so many good swimmers to pick from... sure I missed a bunch. Not sure who I'd pick for a World masters list, but Rich Abrahams and Susan von der Lippe would both still need to be on it!!!

I hope so too. Geek appears to be baiting Paul, Donna.

I was a timer for Jim's 1500M at LCM nationals when they were in mission viejo in 2005. He broke the 400 and 800 meter world record times during that swim. He also stopped mid pool around 925M splitting a 1:20 on that 100(he was holding 1:09/1:10's). He recovered and still broke the world record for the 1500M holding 1:10's the rest of the way.
When he finished I asked him why he stopped in the middle of the pool earlier in the race.
He said that he had blacked out.:notworthy:

Aside from the guy on the diet, don't we have to add Jim McConica? Won a bunch of events at Worlds, set a bunch of WRs recently in the pool and in LD races in 3000, 6000, 5K and 10K in the 55-59 age group. Margery Meyer set a bunch of WRs in the 80+ age group at Worlds as I recall. Plus, Michael Ross and Sheila Taormina are amazing. But since Sheila just won the Jim Thorpe award, she may be suffciently adorned. She is a truly amazing athlete. Susan V. and Karly P-N definitely have to be on that top 6 list. Clay Britt is no slouch either with a bunch of recent WRs in SCY and SCM.
