Questions about US swimming

Hey everyone, I have a problem...I don't train very vigrously or religiously when theres no meets in site...so....because there are so few masters meets around me, I am also re-joining US swimming. ((is that allowed? To swim both?)) I was wondering though...how does one get a hold of registration forms for those meets does anyone know? I will be swimming unattached...but I was messing around on the metroswimming website and couldn't find anywhere that had registration forms for meets that I could print and sign up... I suppose this would be better asked on a US forum, but I couldn't find that either:o if anyone could direct me in the right direction that'd be great!
  • Most LSC's put this information under Coach's pages, same with Potomac: www.pvswim.org/register.htm
  • Thanks Nancy and Dorothy!! I printed the form. Now, I just have to get up the nerve to enter a meet and figure out how. I'm sure they're really worried about my age. I'll probably come in dead last.
  • Since my Masters coach is also the assistant coach for GCAT I just swim with the GCAT team and coach takes care of my meet entries for me. I usually find I tend to swim faster in the their meets because I don't swim as many events and get alittle more rest. The kids are also faster too and I guess they drag me along.
  • Try and look at last year's results of the meet and pick one that is middle of the road competition wise. Also talk to your kids coach, because they probably know which meets are somewhat low key. I assure you, you will not be dead last.
  • Leslie - Welcome to the Club! Mollie and I joined RMSC to do some meets this summer. Only to find that all the big ones we'd want to do are dual sanctioned anyways! Oh well. I just signed up for the distance meet in two weeks. Too bad - you missed the deadline. But we're going to try to swim at UMD for whatever USS meet is there mid july.
  • I think it's Senior Champs, right? I don't think I qualify! No 50s, can't make the 100 cutoffs. Good luck! If a meet is dual-sanctioned, does that mean you don't need to register for USA swimming? Yes, it's safe to say that hell will freeze over before I do a distance meet. You'd sooner see me in an aquathlon. I did one last year with the fam. Ha, ha.

If a meet is dual-sanctioned, does that mean you don't need to register for USA swimming? All the more reason to swim that 200 free. As for the dual sanctioning, yes, if you're registered with USMS, you can enter and swim for your regular masters team. We still registered with RMSC, and will swim for them over the summer. I'm actually really excited - this will be my first USS meet ever, 10 years after I should have originally started doing this. But I certainly wouldn't trade the path I took. :wine::drink:

I am contemplating registering with US swimming so I can swim in more meets. I can't find the registration form on my LSC (Potomac Valley) page though. Where should I look? Thanks. The Registrar for your LSC can assist you as required. www.pvswim.org/.../07ath.pdf - good for PV LSC only You will need to send in a copy of a legal ID showing your birthdate, full legal name, etc. Driver's license, birth certificate, or passport should suffice. If you are not affiliated with a club, enter "Unattached" Take a look at the Policies & Procedures www.pvswim.org/pvsadmin.htm This is similar to how things are in the LSC I am webmaster for / registrar for my club.
  • what is this US swimming you speak off...do they have an old fat guy division? Nope ya gotta swim with the young teen studs.
  • actually, senior II is dual sanctioned, so you don't even need to worry about getting USA-S registered. i'm just not sure how you go about entering as a USMS athlete... probably talk to roddin :) Thanks Mollie!! I just shot him an email asking that question. Hopefully, I can get myself in before June 13. Looks like I could even swim the 100 LC fly. Oh joy. :lmao: Rich: Really, you're not even in your 40s yet. You could come down and swim against Jeff.
