Ok so I miss the NY Aqua fit spring Fling b/c of stomach virus at the weekend.
I sneeze and threw out my back yeserday morning and now am staring NEM or more accurately NO-NEM in the face. I'm gonna be a bad tempered breaststroker if I can't make it to NEM.
Whine, whine, whine, whine,
I agreed to sore knees, sore shoulder, manky ear, brittle hair, cold water induced atrophy, blocked bugle, stinking like clorox, and looking comical doing fly.
Why I gotta have lower back issues too? :'(

It's a train wreck here on the masters forum.
Breaststroke kicks are far worse than fly arm injuries IMHO.
Only with one exception; that dreaded fly to fly combat collision with another flyer coming your way in the same lane and not switching to single arm fly to avoid being T-boned mid lane. Now those require all the meds you mentioned.
:-( sorry to hear of your misfortunes with sneezing and consequent back injuries. However, I will admit it gave me a chuckle...but you can laugh right back, since at the ripe age of 20 I threw out my back doing a jumping jack.

Morgan it's OK I see the very funny side of it. I never do anything exciting like "Oh I was doing a motor-cross jump and landed bad" or "I was wrestling a wild boar, and twisted awkwardly when I tried to pin it."
It's always sneezing, pulling on a sock, picking up my toothbrush... I mean it's pathetic and misery inducing. Dealt with it since 20 too. So look after yourself. Backs are very strong but very vulnerable, especially early in the morning. I know this and thusly brace myself on the wall or counter if I feel a big sneeze coming on...I guess I didn't have enough weight off of my back. I had just rolled out of bed.
Oh boy...maybe I should invest in a back brace right now, and wear it for the first few hours each day. I'm sure your injuries, though AGGRAVATED by pathetic events, are probably a result of your wild and crazy youthful years...thats what I blame mine on haha....

Dude sorry to hear about your back problems (as I stated on the other forum as well)....I've done the exact same thing from sneezing....Its amazing just how violent a sneeze can be....Never hold in a sneeze because the energy from the sneeze has a better chance of being diverted to somewhere like your back or neck! You just need to toughen up a bit for NEM ....remember that Britons never surrender!!...think Winston Churchill Rich!!
BTW I googled the word Comoincal and came up with nothing....If you were intending on the word comical (which makes more sense) then how do you end up with comoincal Rich?...LOL!! you hit three different keys when you went for the "i" there??...LOL!:thhbbb:

A few of years ago I sneezed and messed up my back so bad that the Dr. put me on Celebrex. Immediatly I discovered I was alergic to celebrex and ended up in the ER with hives and not being able to move from sneeze induced back spasms. It sucked. Now it is the occational advil for work induced pains. I own a furniture store so I great percautions with my back because I still move and deliver.

So, my breastroke was feeling really good- until tonight when I pulled my groin. Yeow! Haven't done it for a few years, but it used to really plague me. I'll be doing anything but for a few weeks.

Good luck Rich! I hope you get better soon. I was looking forward to another breaststroke update, so I hope you get to NEMS! Hang in there. Take anti-inflammatories for the back! As for the other stuff, that's just part of being a swimmer. :)
