I am going on vacation the last week of March to Sonoma CA and the closest pool I could find is in Napa at the HealthQuest Fitness Center. My contact person says that there is a Masters Swim program that workouts out on Mon/Wed/Fri from 8:30AM-9:30 AM.
Anyone familiar with this facility/club? Mind if I join you for a few workouts?
Susan....we we're just out there in the fall and I think this is the same place we went to thinking they had a team....which they didn't (double check by calling). I'd suggest checking out Sonoma State U....its a bit of a drive but they have a great facility...but can't say for sure what the masters program is doing....
Susan- if you're stuck, there's a good bunch in Santa Rosa (up the road a piece).
Absolutely Peter, Santa Rosa Masters and Coach Hermine come highly recommended. Some great swimmers, and a really great coach.
If you go MichiganHusker, you must ask her to do a handstand, tell her I told you to!
Have a good trip.
First off, I am really jealous. I want to go to Sonoma.
I've been there a number of times, but have never swam (swum?) there. Let us know what you find out 'cause I want to go back and would love to swim when I do.
Here a NSR comment: I went to the Jack London State Historical Park just north of Sonoma and thought it was fantastic. If you're not the literary type at all, it still is a great place for a hike. If you go, be sure to go back to see the ruins of his home that burned before he moved in. The existing home is also quite a testament to both his adventures and the moxie of his widow who ran the place as a dude ranch for decades after his death.
There are so many cool places in and around Sonoma. I don't know whether to be jealous or happy thinking about great times. :groovy:
Thanks everyone. I'll check out Santa Rosa - I'm trying to get my laps in without interfering with my hubbie's R&R so I want to try and swim when I know he'll still be sleeping and before we get going for the day.
Yay vacations! :woot:
The Masters program in Napa works out at the Napa Valley College pool early in the morning I think it like 6-8 weekdays and later on the weekends ( they have a website but don't know how up to date it is ). Healthquest has a pretty nice pool, no gutters and sometimes crowded. Queen of the Valley Hospital just built a huge state of the art fitness center with several pools, i haven't been there yet but hear its nice. Need any other Napa info e mail me and I will try to help. Have a fun trip.
For those interested - the B&B where we are staying has complimentary passes to the local full service gym that has a pool. Much closer then driving to Santa Rosa or Napa. It is an outdoor pool open year round. I love swimming outside!
Cheers!
