How many goggles in a single workout?

I use 2 goggles in my workouts. One for sprint sets (tight and uncomfortable), one for relaxed sets. Till now, I did nor see anybody doing the same. Am I the only one?
  • One pair for workouts, with an extra set in my swim bag. One pair for meet warmup(not my workout pair,I have a meet swim bag separate from my workout swim bag) and one pair for races.
  • I checked the 'one only', because that seemed the closest answer. We swim in an outdoor pool, and usually it is just 1 pair for me. However I swim in the morning, around this time of year, it is still dark when we start, but then gets sunny during our workout, so I'll keep my mirrored goggles handy and switch. By May, I'm using just the mirrored goggles the whole time. Then the reverse in fall, and my non-mirrored during the winter when it is still dark outside.

I definitely spit (too many jokes, too little time) into two pairs of Speedo Speedsockets (only for racing) and about eight pairs of Speedo Aquablades (for training and competition warmups). My trusty Aquablade goggles never leak and never fog up, but it took me a great deal of trial and error to find a design that fit that well.

Jiminos, the main problem with the lens is dirt, oil, grease, whatever. I remember having foggy masks on a diving trip and the dive master cleaned my masks with liquid soap or detergent. Of course, the diving masks aren't so sensitive to cleaning as goggles. I just put some baby shampoo (less irritating to the eyes) and gently with the tip of fingers wash the inside and outside of the goggles. Rinse, then apply the anti-fog liquid (speedo is one brand I recall). If the lenses are completely clean there is no where the fog will adhere to. But even if you don't use the spray or liquid, just washing with shampoo will make a huge difference. It is just like your windshield, where occasionally you have to use detergent to get rid of the oily film that is on the outside, or have some soap added to the washer fluid. I went a long time with no anti-fog stuff (hadn't found any or where to buy) so the shampoo or liquid soap worked well. If your eyes get irritated, rinse some more while in the pool. The spit thing works, but I am getting picky and icky at my age. Cigarette tobacco or raw cut potatoes were used back in college for the windshield. Don't have any tobacco now, no more Benson&Hedges menthols. Take care, billy fanstone

imspoiled;82821 I also use one for practice, but I have many, many pair and use them, to quote Muppet, "depending on which pair isn't sucking that day." Slightly same (depending) but different response: For me it's the pair that IS sucking that day (and will not leak). Strange, isn't it, how it seems that some days the shape of our face (or eye sockets) change so that yesterday's perfect fit will not work today? I tried many brands until I found Nike Uptakes. Then they stopped making them. I managed to find four or five pairs on the Internet. When I contacted Nike to ask them which of their models most closely resembled the Uptakes, they sent me a "Natator" which I loved. (It was made in Thailand). So I went and bought another Nike Natator. This one, I'm ashamed to say was "Made in Canada" and leaks like a sieve (except very rarely). Racing goggles are totally different though. Aren't race supersitions great (probably should be its own thread)! I treat my race goggles like they're gold plated. People think I'm nuts, but it works for me. I kept trying other brands and models until I found TYR's Technoflex 2 that worked for me, except for racing where I found that TYR's Raceflex's smaller size was a perfect leak-stopper. However I can't use them for anything over a 100m because they press on a scleral buckle I have in my eye (retinal detachment surgery). About three weeks ago (before the Ottawa Winterlude meet) I decided to buy me another pair or two of Raceflexes. Guess what? TYR stopped making Raceflexes!!! However I found that they have a new model "Flash" that's a good fit (for me). It stays on during starts from the edge of the pool. (City pools, public swims, no starting blocks). All those goggles, that didn't work for me, make great Christmas and Birthday presents for my girlfriend's grandchildren. Cheers

I parctice with just one pair however I wear a different pair to race. The race ones get used only in races. Just a superstition I have. Got Boost I also use one for practice, but I have many, many pair and use them, to quote Muppet, "depending on which pair isn't sucking that day." Racing goggles are totally different though. • I am one with one pair for practice and another for races. The rocket sockets work great for practice and don't leave me looking like a racoon, but since they fell of at my first Nationals on the 3rd lap of the 500 I will not use them in a meet. So far only the JR. Vanquishers seem to work for meets for me. Donna

I only wear one pair for practice and racing because I've only found one pair that doesn't leak (TechnoFlex). I already have a new set as back-up, but as soon as my current pair are gone, I'm buying a pair of Vanquisher!! I can't wait!!:groovy:

It seems I am not the only one, but I belong to a 5 % minority changing goggles during the workout. I use two different models of Arena for easy sets (they are comfortable) and Speede Speedsocket for the sprints and start from the blocks. I did not try Nike and other brands, but why not.

I have a few pair but I only use one. With the fogging thing,I don't actually spit in my goggles but I do lick the insides. ;)
