How many goggles in a single workout?

I use 2 goggles in my workouts. One for sprint sets (tight and uncomfortable), one for relaxed sets. Till now, I did nor see anybody doing the same. Am I the only one?
  • I also have a practice set and a race set. My "racing" goggles are ones I picked up 8-10 years ago. They're speedo and have a hologram in them. One is of a skull, and the other pair look like lizard eyes. Kinda goofy but I like them, I wish they'd make'em again. But to answer the question, I just use one pair during practice. Superfluous banana

I parctice with just one pair however I wear a different pair to race. The race ones get used only in races. Just a superstition I have. Got Boost

I practice using 2 Vanquisher plus goggles. One blue, one red.
  • Unless I am trying out my latest Sweede creation, one pair. Use the same for meets and practice. Outdoors, it is a different story. I don't have a pair of goggles I trust 100% except for the Nike Socket Rockets from 1997 that I use for the outdoor nationals'. They're the only ones that haven't sprung even the tiniest leak on me during a race. Practice with any one of three pairs of sweedes, depending on which pair isn't sucking that day.
  • i'm not good enough to really make a difference, but i use just one pair for my long slow lazy flails. i own three or four pair, but i have one pair that is prescription that i prefer. and to keep the fog out i use spit.... (ish! eeewww!... i know) be, jim Jim: What kind of prescription goggles are you using? I've tried two different pairs from Keifer, one TYR and one Speedo. Hate both of them and they both leak. So I swim with contacts contray to my eye docs advice. Spit bad -- eye infection risk. I just use speed sockets. But I have a different pair for practice and meets. Thought you were supposed to keep a pair just for meets because the things wear out over time and you could risk a strap blowout at a meet if you're wearing an old pair. I can't wear those sweedes. I don't get it. I have a pair. Leak like crazy. Probably because I don't know what I'm doing with them. I'm sticking with speed sockets because they're the only ones I trust. Wow, I see the "one and only one" school is carrying the day in the poll.

I am obsessive with having clear goggles. So I usually have at poolside two clean and with anti-fog goggles. During the workout I might change if the one I am wearing gets foggy. I have some big open water type goggles (Seal?) which I wear most times. If we are practicing starts from the blocks I will usually go without. I have recently bought a couple of Swedes to wear at races. I am from way back when we dived (dove) onto the water, not into the water. Only recently I have learned to tuck my chin in. The last couple of years, except for open water swimming, I have gone without goggles. I have yet to feel confident to dive and not lose my goggles. At one 800 meter race I went in feet first. While on the subject I might mention something everyone knows (except newbies), that I use baby shampoo to wash my goggles. I also use Speedo fog preventing whatever. billy fanstone (I believe I have now around 10 goggles, between big ones, daytime ones, night time and smaller race types)

One set for practice and races.....Speedo Futurity Jr. They are small and compact yet not uncomfortable. For me they stay in the eye socket no matter what I do.:groovy:

  • One pair for workouts, with an extra set in my swim bag. One pair for meet warmup(not my workout pair,I have a meet swim bag separate from my workout swim bag) and one pair for races. Exactly the same response (down to the separate workout/meet bags) with the exception that I warmup and race in the same goggles...

fortress, my prescription goggles are made by Hilco. I have a friend who works at an optical shop. she found these for me... they work awesome... no leaks, no probs... good fit, good visibility.... if you would like i can try to get the catalog info for you. i use the spit because it worked very well in military dive masks. none of the "anti fog" solutions i've tried have worked.... gets frustrating after awhile. i am open to suggestions on that one. be, jim
