i think i need a swimming terminology lesson....

i have been reading a lot of the posts herein.... and it has occurred to me... (and this will surely betray my newbie-ness) there are an awful lot of abbreviations and terms used that leave me essentially having no clue what was said.... is there a book out there someplace "swimese for dummies" or the like? i speak several languages, sadly swimese is not yet among them..... i can swim two miles comfortably, and have energy left over after to go run three miles... but decode the posts on this board?.... any reference/resource suggestions gladly accepted... thanks. be, jim

Before I post my set, I am glad that the length vs. lap was clarified; I know it has bothered a lot of my swim friends over the years, and I prefer the term length, is doesn't sound as far to me but don't forget, I am older and sometimes suffer from SWD (salt water damage) to my brain!!! EVF=Early Vertical Fatigue SAW=Stop at Wall DAW=Die at Wall EPS=Early Pool Exit FOB=First off blocks (or Fell Off Blocks depends) LOB=Last Off Blocks NOB=Not On Blocks SLOB=Starts Late Off Blocks (better to be a SLOB than a LOB) and for you Flyers out there: SFDKAB (Swim Fly Don't Know Any Better) SOP=Stay On Pace and a couple of real ones: DQ=Disqualified (I always thought it was Dairy Queen) but got a DQ once. SIS=Swam Illegal Stroke (I got one of these once too)
