i have been reading a lot of the posts herein.... and it has occurred to me... (and this will surely betray my newbie-ness) there are an awful lot of abbreviations and terms used that leave me essentially having no clue what was said.... is there a book out there someplace "swimese for dummies" or the like? i speak several languages, sadly swimese is not yet among them..... i can swim two miles comfortably, and have energy left over after to go run three miles... but decode the posts on this board?.... any reference/resource suggestions gladly accepted... thanks. be, jim

FR-freestyle BK-backstroke BR-breaststroke (and the best stroke...don't let anyone tell you otherwise) IM-Individual Medley (butterfly, bk, br, fr) SCY- short course yards (25 yds) SCM-short course meters (25 metres) SPL- strokes per length (how many strokes you take in a length) SL- stroke length (I think) SR-stroke rate (I think, but it'd be how fast you stroke) PR-personal record PB-personal best RI-rest interval (how long you rest in between sets) Don't know about BF...best friend, boyfriend.....but probably not :laugh2:....it's probably butterfly, but I'm not totally sure... SR also stands for swimming Related on this forum as Kyra points out in an earlier post on this same thread.....(So some of these abreviations can mean different things depending on the context that they are used in) Newmastersswimmer
