I have a theory that air under a cap is a slight advantage for breaststroke and fly as it makes it easier to lift your head(with your body, not your neck) and that wet hair makes it slightly harder. If I'm right this would give a slight competitive advantge. You can be sure I'll try it at my next meet. This is a good point. At the 2004 Olympics (I think that's when it was, it might have been the World Championships), I noticed a lot of people wearing two caps. Jenny Thompson is the one I remember. She had a regular cap and then one of the racer domes from Speedo over the top. Does wearing two caps accomplish the same thing as the swim band, or do you have to cut it for it to work? Can you use two latex caps or do they need to be different materials?
