Nationals Party...It's gonna be awesome!

Seeing as Nationals are fast approaching (eek!), I thought I'd post this now to give time for debate, planning, and change to make sure we can see some action. ;) Here's what I was thinking: There's a Red Robin (though there are plenty of other choices also) fairly close to the pool (by the mall...about 5 milesish..maybe). I would LOVE to meet everybody from these forums so I was thinking Friday or Saturday night we should have a little dinner and drinks soiree. The formally organized USMS social is Saturday night. So...that's my thought. Let's hash out some details and make it happen!! :drink: :groovy: :woot:
  • Kyra, Someplace close to the pool and our hotels is probably best. I think input from others that live in the area is a good idea. My 16 y.o. daughter is going to be with me so let's choose a place that she can go to. We should also ask Kristi. She's from the area too. I have 3 races on Sat so if we go out Friday night I can't get too carried away. And Karen. I hope you're not too shy away from the computer screen. I'm looking forward to partying with you and your teammates too. :drink:
  • Red Robin will probably be really crowded. But any restuarant of any stature in the Seattle Metro area is going to be crowded. I'm trying to think of all the restuarants in that area....there's Red Robin, Applebees, a BBQ (billy somethings?), an old country buffett, McDonalds.....I think there's an Outback close by too. I think you kind of summed it up. Federal Way, unfortunately is dominated by chain type restaurants. You'll probably need to find someone who lives in that area to know the good non-chain restaurants and bars. Even though it's a chain I think Bucca di Beppo would be a fun place to go if there is one down there. The only ones I know of in the area are in Seattle and Lynnwood, both of which are far from the pool. Keep in mind there's no smoking in any public places (bars included) in the state, so you won't have to worry about smoky bars. I'm probably going to miss the Friday night festivities. A friend of mine is flying in from Michigan for the meet, so we'll probably be doing our own thing. We might go to the Mariners game that night.

*bump* So as not to too terribly hijack Kirk's thread, I'll bump this up and we can party plan here. Friday night sounds like a fabulous night to do something!! Anyone have ideas where they want to go? Bar? Restaurant?
  • I just thought of something because Mel Dyck mentioned it to me earlier. There's a Salty's location nearby. Probably like five miles or so from the pool, maybe even closer to the hotels: www.saltys.com/.../ It might be a little too pricey for your Friday dinner, but some people might be interested while they're in town. Also, their Sunday brunch is legendary. If you're interested in that I'd suggest making reservations. Anyway, just a suggestion! I'd hate for all you out-of-towners to get stuck eating at Red Robin or Applebee's.

Shall we find a bar and grill then? Kirk, wanna help me out?! The only place I can think of down close to the pool is Red Robin, but I know there's other restaurants down there. I think there's a steak house around their too. OH!! There's a really tasty Mongolian BBQ at the Mall.

There are two Buca di Beppo's in the Seattle area, both of them quiet a bit north of Federal Way. (Unless there is a new one that isn't showing on the website). It's definitely a food place, that also serves drinks. http://www.bucadibeppo.com/

No worries about getting carried away. My 21st is on Tuesday and if I do end up going out with my brother, I'll probably be still hung over by Friday. Red Robin will probably be really crowded. But any restuarant of any stature in the Seattle Metro area is going to be crowded. I'm trying to think of all the restuarants in that area....there's Red Robin, Applebees, a BBQ (billy somethings?), an old country buffett, McDonalds.....I think there's an Outback close by too. There's a laser tag place...but I wouldn't want to embarass anyone with my skills so maybe not..... Make-up is optional...I dont' usually wear it...I'm stunning enough. ;) Karen don't be shy!! We already kinda know each other, just in a different sense.....but I can be shy too, so we can be quiet together.

I am afraid you'll probably be stuck with chain-type places in that neighbourhood. On the bright side, there's lots of places that sell FIREWORKS! cheap.
  • How far is the stadium from the hotels (close to the pool)? I don't know which one I'm staying at! But I assume it's close to the pool. This would be great. We can all talk all we want, 'dogs, beer- ahhhhhhh :drink: I think Kerry said we are getting some rental cars...
  • Sounds good! I'm heading to bed- I'm tired. (insert smiley with nightcap on- of course the nightcap has the optional holes for goggles!) :p Hey, post 700! That's about how old I feel right now ;)
