Nationals Party...It's gonna be awesome!

Seeing as Nationals are fast approaching (eek!), I thought I'd post this now to give time for debate, planning, and change to make sure we can see some action. ;) Here's what I was thinking: There's a Red Robin (though there are plenty of other choices also) fairly close to the pool (by the mall...about 5 milesish..maybe). I would LOVE to meet everybody from these forums so I was thinking Friday or Saturday night we should have a little dinner and drinks soiree. The formally organized USMS social is Saturday night. So...that's my thought. Let's hash out some details and make it happen!! :drink: :groovy: :woot:

Animals!? Do you have any sheep? For some reason, the last 3 weeks, I am on this sheep fix. I really want a pet sheep. :groovy: I'm thinking I hide in Muppet's suitcase to make it to nationals as a spectator. Then after Kyra's big 21st party we kidnap a sheep, shave it, put a swimming cap and goggles on it, spray paint it with "USMS Forum Posse" and have ourselves photographed with our new mascot! a)Yes b)No c)Who's got the bail money? Or is there some more "Welsh" reason you want the sheep Jeff? Nite gang!
  • Perhaps Florida is not particularly close to DC, but it is much closer to Florida than Boise. DC's also closer to Indianapolis (site of Nats prior to FL) and Texas (future site of Nats). I'm very impressed that someone from the east coast actually recognizes that there is a Washington other than DC, though. Most easterners I come across have no idea. They think that we're still out here playing cowboys and Indians.;)

  • There are sheep in Washington Muppet, so you should definately come to Nationals. My old house in Lake Stevens was by a farm that raised sheep. Had a big white farmhouse on a hill and a bunch of white and black fluff balls grazing on the hillside. Very picturesque. Righteous! I have my plane tix for the meet, so I'll be out there. Now the hard part is deciding what events to swim... May have to take a trip to Kyra's farmhouse prior to the meet for some new swimsuit design. Move over FS-2. Here comes FS-Moo. :joker:
  • Fort you know you want to go!!! C'mon...everybody's doin' it. ;) Beth you should go too! I'm probably not going to make qual times in all my events, so we can be slow and out of shape together. :wiggle: Kyra: As far as I can tell, and now I am going to sound like Charlie Brown here, I have been somewhat sick, injured or out of shape for every meet I've ever swum in. Which isn't that many. I'm kind of used to it ... Taper? What's that? I just give my shoulder a rest for a week or catch a cold. No sleep? Who cares? Never do that much anyway ... I think I can do the 50 back in my sleep. That's my most reliable, non-shoulder-threatening, no brainer, hope I don't blow the turn, event. (Boy, I hope Paul Smith is not reading this or I will get a lecture.) BTW, I used to live in Washington (sister born in Tacoma) before I moved to a colder place (where jaegermeister lives) and then to another cold place (where Kaizen used to like to swim) and then to another cold place (where FlyQueen lives). So I know it's there. ;) Kristilynn: I'm not used to jetting all about the country swooping up the distance free medals like you. I just started my 50 back masters career. Does anyone know how Washington is for allergies? All I know is I almost died in CA in August with that dreadful weird plant life they have there ... What do they do, import that stuff for the sole reason of sabotaging those from the east coast? Muppet: What airline are you taking? If you're doing one of those nasty distance free events on Thursday night and you need a counter, I'm happy to oblige. (If I go and if I get a reservation.)

  • Wow Fort, You don't look a day over 16 in that photo....LOL!!:thhbbb: But seriously, You have some real lovely daughters there fort....You must be a real knockout to produce such high quality offspring. Is the older one as fearless as the younger one though?...LOL! Newmastersswimmer p.s. Regardless of who goes to Federal Way this Spring, We are ALL going to Austin right Fort?!!.....I already know FlyQueen and Seagurl will be there....like I said in any earlier posting somewhere, Those 2 girls will be all over Austin like it was crack cocaine...LOL!! Jim: You're looking pretty young there yourself, Jim! You didn't read my other post. :thhbbb: This one is the FEARLESS huge pain in the *** breaststroker. She's 12, going on 16. She wants to go to Nationals with me, if I go, and she wants me to, but she would spoil all my fun and I couldn't get into as much trouble. So she will stay home and swim that cursed stroke she loves. I'm avataring my son next. He's not as cute as yours. Wouldn't miss Austin though. I have to watch FlyQueen dance on bars and ply her charms on .... Mold?!?! I can't go if there's mold, Kyra. Arggghhh. That's the worst. I'm just going to have to give up on breathing I think.
  • Fortress, When I used to leave near Seattle, I never had allergy issues, but now I have them in Idaho. My husband was just the opposite. His big allergy was to hay and alfalfa, but I don't think that you'd have to worry about that unless you're planning on heading out of the city -- maybe to track down some sheep? I also don't think that there's much harvesting in May? On another note, I'm afraid that I've given the wrong impression if you think that I jet around gathering medals. I'm certainly nothing special or speedy. We have no sanctioned meets in my area, so I get to swim in one meet a year. I figure that it might as well be Nationals, regardless of what corner of the country it may be in. In spite of my griping over the cost of Florida, I will miss getting to take a mini-vacation to a warmer climate.

  • ..... I couldn't get into as much trouble...... You better bring her, then. :joker: My 16 yo wants to come along and I think that might be a good thing. It'll keep me out of trouble and I'll have a designated driver. :woot: :drink: :drink:
