SEPTOPLASTY?

Anyone had surgery to correct a deviated septum? How long were you out of the h2o? Is it harder to regulate your exhalation on face-up SDK's than it was before?

As many people know, this is my favorite topic. Today, I went to my ENT. I asked about deviated septums. there is no relation to them except the nose can get stffued up. Have you ever tried a course of prednisone? I have had polpyls removed 2 times from all four sinus cavatievties. I don't have many allergies but i do have asthma and aspirin iritation. Anyway, somethimes the septum looks deviated when it it only irritated or swollen. I guess it is very important to make the distinction. the only way you can tell is through a MRI and seeing if drugs will keep the swelling dwon. I have taken lots of drugs for most of my life. I don't understand peoles' hestation with taking drugs. My drugs used for allergies and nasal problems work at correcting problems with your body not stopping your body from acting naturally.

  • I had septoplasty and my tonsils removed and excess throat tissue removed in March 04. I was only out of the water 2 or 3 weeks. And I swam in SC nationals in Indy the next month. I did have some sleep apnea, and that's the only reason I could get the insurance to pay for it (and it still took a 6-month argument with them to get it). It was not a lot of fun immediately afterward. Had to breathe through my mouth because my nose was packed with both cotton and splints. Breathing through your mouth when you've just had your tonsils removed does not feel good. But after about a week I quit feeling like I'd been hit by a truck, and it's been totally worth it. It has vastly improved my allergies and I sleep a lot better because I'm not waking myself up snoring every night!

i have yet to find an effictive antihistamine that didn't make me feel a little "off". Have you tried Allegra D? It works wonders for me. I ws really surprised because I've taken so many antihistamines. I also find that I have to remove the wrap around the pill. I sometimes crushit. I take some other pills that knock me out but I haven't found that Allegra D has any additional effect on me.

currently allegra d is my drug of choice, but still produces a slight edgyness (a word?) I don't know, maybe I take so many drugs I don't realize that what I think is normal isn't. I take Allegra D three times a day and I don't notice it. I also, though, take enough Theophylline for a man who weighs 340lbs. I only weigh 187lbs. plus prednisone and use my nebulizer at least twice a day. :groovy: I have been told that I'm a drug addict. If I don't get that Theo by 8:30, I'm screaming:woot:
