Does anybody do parkour as a dryland exercise? I'm thinking of starting and was wondering how/or if it affected swimming.

OK Maybe I am just stupid but WTH is parkour?
This would seem to be useful training if one plans on a life evading the police, repo man, jealous husband/wife etc or pursuing a career as a stuntperson....but my knees and spinal column hurt just watching these videos.

Me too Barb...I'd just have to let whoever catch me and take the beating...
Ahhh Yeah did you see Casino Royale?
The guy at the start was really good...except he annoyed Daniel Craig and got shot...lol
That's actually what prompted me to really look into it. I've known about it for a long time but never really thought to get into it. But if it's good enough for Daniel Craig (I know it was a stuntman dont' crush my bubble) then it's good enough for me.
Police evasion techniques are always a good skill to have. You just never know. ;) I am kinda worred it'll kill me knees and end my breaststroke career, which is why I'm curious if anyone here knows anything.
Kyra,
I don't want to get hurt at all!!!

I'm with you! It's very cool looking and strength building for those with the coordination, and that wouldn't be me. Even "just plain running," I've done some face plants. Not to mention tripping on a mat on the pool deck. You don't want to see me doing Parkour. It would not be a pretty sight--and not something young children should witness.
And as I get older and heal more slowly, I want to increase the amount of time I can do the sports I enjoy.
Kyra, when I watched the videos about 'parkour', I remembered the famous song: I know what it is to be young, but you don't know what it is to be old!!! I better continue my risk-free stretching activities.:blah: :blah: :blah:
