Have any breaststrokers tried the Breaststroke Fin by Speedo? If so, what is your impression of it.
  • I haven't tried them yet but my firend just got a pair for Christmas. He tried them out last weekend and said they were very instructional. They force you to do the kick correctly in order to grab the water. He was a little worried about the added torque on the knees so he just took it slow and easy to start.

I would like to know as well! I use the positive drive fins right now and like them....would like to see the difference.:argue:

I am curious what the benefit this fin proposes to bring to the swimmer. Being that BR is more of a finnesse stroke rather than a power stroke--when compared to the others. IMHO.

Ian, got some last week from SwimOutlet.com ($35, cheapest I found). I really like them. I would recommend starting slow with them. I don't have bad knees, but I can feel the pressure on the insides of my knees when I use them. They definitely make your legs work in different ways then the Positive Drive Fins. I use both pairs while warming my legs up, and during half of my kick set. They really feel like they put your feet in the proper position during the thrust. I recommend getting some.

The Speedo Fin uses the outside of the foot to perform the "catch" in the BR kick. Ideally the inside of the foot makes the "catch". Ed Moses modified hand paddles and used them on the the inside of his feet. He said it made a tremendous difference in his kick catch. I'm not an expert though...Wayne are you there?:notworthy:
