Who do you want to race? In what event? The race is on.
I'm challenging Richjb to a 50 ***. I'll even challenge Terry to a 50 butterfrog.

Poolrat, maybe you could come down and "officiate" if anyone ever wanted to come down here and race. You'd be just the person to have refreshments ready at the end.
LindsayNB: Wow, 2.5 seconds is nothing to sneeze about; that 's a lot of time shaved off. I didn't know you used do OW, but since you are in Canada, I'm sure it must also present some problems (cold water?). And, my effortless stroke is also speedless .
Rich, OUCH is my sentiment; don't ice it!! Look at it as a little mini-taper for the time being.
Cheers everyone,
Donna
You guys are all fascinating but too fast. I'll wait until I'm in the 100+ age group and find somebody else left in it. I think that's the best strategy I have. Maybe by then I will have figured out how to swim, get in shape, etc. I am hoping that when I retire (15 years ?) I will have good health and free time to swim more without the encumbrance of full-time employment.
Check back in about 50 years ?
If there is going to be a individual medley of (procrastination, beer swilling, webmastering, and marathon 24-episode watching) I'll challenge somebody now. Well, I wouldn't actually start right away due to the rules for the first part.
And I have to say that my "effortless" OW distance stroke is also "speedless". ;) I think Rob Copeland and Leonard would be more worthy OW challengers (and maybe "some caped crusader guy")
Lindsay, I would be delighted to race you in the OW, especially after you've admitted that your "effortless" stroke is not speedy. Maybe I have a chance.
Fortress, Ex-runner:
I will challenge you to a 5K or whatever distance exceeding that you choose. I do not sprint. I will run on dirt or at that Difficult Run place you've apparently relocated to.
Then, when we are done and I win, I challenge you to a :drink: race. :thhbbb:
To quote someone else, I will crush you like a "tin drum." :thhbbb:
Now, I guess your fly technique must be OK. I'll confess. I can't do fly. Only butterstruggle.
Ok, I think I might like to get in on the Caped one's OW challenges to defend my far side cow  . Something scenic, perhaps across the Chesapeake Bay @ the Bay Bridge. I was going to put Bonaire or St. Croix swims, but I know I would get distracted by the wildlife.
I actually like your far side cow. You're not bowing to peer pressure to change your avatar? I hope you crush Clark Kent like a "tin drum." I think I read about your exploits in that Bay Bridge race...
Meanwhile, I think Beth and I are still holding hands on the 50 fly.
What's with the  ? I thought you were all about :dedhorse: and . Have you decided to use new emoticons?
But if not, anyone who swims backstroke, but let's keep it a really short distance, say 25 yard, so when I lose I won't be a BIG LOSER, I'll be a LITTLE LOSER:rofl:.Donna
You know I love you, but I will definitely race you in a backstroke event. But is the 25 back much of an "accomplishment?" I don't think so. :D C'mon on, I'll even race you in the 200 back as long as it's not in the OW. I don't like sea lice. Blech. Do they ever not have sea lice in the Honduras?

You are a swimmer after my own heart! My only awards in swims so far have come when there is no one else in my age group. (First in a tough field of me, myself, and I....). ;) So I'm thinking the 100+ age group holds much promise. As for the other "IM" events, maybe we could do a relay, since the webmastering and 24 episodes aren't really my specialty. But hey beer swilling and procrastination... I'm SOOO there!
Man, can't you pick someone else to race?!

Fortress,
Smarty Pants!!! A 25 yd back would be an accomplishment for Me, I wouldn't get slaughtered so badly. :joker:But now that I think of it, it would have to be in a 33-1/3 yard pool with stairs at the end, so let's make it a 66 yd back and see how well YOU fare with turning on stairs. After all, I have practice with them. Maybe your stairstruggle would keep us more even.
But if this doesn't float your boat, then the remaining back race would have to be a 325 yd race from beach to channel marker.:thhbbb:
Ball's back in your court:thhbbb:
