Which poster would you most like to race and in what event?

Who do you want to race? In what event? The race is on. I'm challenging Richjb to a 50 ***. I'll even challenge Terry to a 50 butterfrog.
  • I'm probably a lot slower than most on this forum so I'm not going to challenge anyone. Besides Fortress and I already have a 50 fly race to do. If I wear fins maybe I'll be able to keep up with her. I wouldn't want to race Donna in open water but I would love to go there and do a long swim and then :drink: with her and her friends.

  • John & I are going to track Geek down next year and take him on in the 500!
  • Poolrat, maybe you could come down and "officiate" if anyone ever wanted to come down here and race. You'd be just the person to have refreshments ready at the end. I'd be happy to. But if the race is is too long you might come back to a pile of empty bottles:D .

Well, I am still pretty new to this forum so I am not sure who swims what. So, I'd have to go for an open water swim, preferably saltwater, at least 5K (farther would be better, though), so maybe Lindsay NB and Terry Laughlin? Who else swims OW? But if not, anyone who swims backstroke, but let's keep it a really short distance, say 25 yard, so when I lose I won't be a BIG LOSER, I'll be a LITTLE LOSER:rofl:. Donna

Well you might get your wish at the Colonies...but it may not be a sanctioned race... I am actually bummed out. My groin pull forced me out of the water today after 20 minutes. I am going to totally rest unitl Wednesday and not swim. I hope that let's it heal...I've been wearing my underarmour all day today which has helped. Good news is I was swimming 25 sec lengths at 8SPL. So now I can work on speed, I seem to have the technique right. I was OK until I tried to swim freestyle, then I felt it really pull. No freestyle for me for a while.

I am a reformed OW swimmer, last season I didn't race anything over 200m, this season I haven't raced anything over 100m... Right now I am experimenting with the "to swim fast in a race you have to swim fast in practice" theory, it seems to be working for me, I recently took 2.5s of my 100fr. It's still very pokey by absolute standards though. And I have to say that my "effortless" OW distance stroke is also "speedless". ;) I think Rob Copeland and Leonard would be more worthy OW challengers (and maybe "some caped crusader guy"), I'm just a theory geek! As I told a friend recently, I am discovering that, unfortunately, just because I have no talent for distance doesn't mean I have any talent for sprinting. On the plus side I don't get lapped! :o
  • swimmie avs fan, 200 Back LCM :dedhorse: Man, can't you pick someone else to race?! I'm rooting for swimmieavsfan on that one. :thhbbb: But you do have a nice start.:D I will only race swimmieavsfan in the 50 back. Not one yard more.

  • Fortress, Ex-runner: I will challenge you to a 5K or whatever distance exceeding that you choose. I do not sprint. I will run on dirt or at that Difficult Run place you've apparently relocated to. I accept this challenge now that you're so mild-mannered. I would prefer a 10K, my usual running distance nowadays though. I no longer marathon because my ankles are just too loose, just like my shoulders, and I'm busy trying to hit the pool. Dirt is good. Difficult run is not fictional. It's right next door. Then, when we are done and I win, I challenge you to a :drink: race. :thhbbb:
