Does anyone have recommendations for strength training? I found a book that looks good, but it is published in England....
www.brianmac.demon.co.uk/.../swimstrength.htm
I like the content of the summary. I was looking for another book with the same structure...
Any ideas?
That strength training for swimmers book looks good. I think core strength is important to swimmers for holding streamline, turns, dolphin kick, breaststroke undulation, freestyle and backstroke long axis rotation, etc. If you are going to do distances from 200 down you need to increase your power. Swimming is basically a low resistance, high volume exercise, therefore I believe it is important to do high resistance, low volume lifts that focus on the swimming muscles.
