Hey all
I just started swimming again for exercise gone from 1/4 mile to 1 mile in about 3 weeks (2 swims a week) muscles needed to adapt first.
I'm hitting around the 40-50 (need to time for accuracy) minute mark to swim the mile breastroke. What should be a goal time to aim for I'm 37, 190ish, 5'8".
Obviously I'm not going to go out and try to make a goal time at next swim but I can try to increase speed in incremements.
Not trying to make event times just set a goal for a nice solid workout tempo for now.
Thanks in advance for any input.

I am really amazed at the range of people on this site; I was reading about 80 year old swimmers...that's awesome.
As for knees I don't feel it too bad...I have good legs (thankfully), but my 3 herniated lumbar discs are the real issue. Hence why I am off of the football (soccer) pitch and into the water again.
I always was a breastroke swimmer and maybe I'm just pre-programmed for it. I am keeping that internal ear opend for knee issues. If I get pains I'll do crawl and use a float for longer workouts--I only have one speed for frontcrawl and I burn out way too fast LOL...
