Hey all
I just started swimming again for exercise gone from 1/4 mile to 1 mile in about 3 weeks (2 swims a week) muscles needed to adapt first.
I'm hitting around the 40-50 (need to time for accuracy) minute mark to swim the mile breastroke. What should be a goal time to aim for I'm 37, 190ish, 5'8".
Obviously I'm not going to go out and try to make a goal time at next swim but I can try to increase speed in incremements.
Not trying to make event times just set a goal for a nice solid workout tempo for now.
Thanks in advance for any input.
Rich
It takes me about a month to get the courage to do a 800-yard breaststroke set after a long break. And I've been swimming fairly continuously all my life.
Because you're getting back in the pool, I wouldn't try to time yourself yet. Breaststroke takes more time to find rhythm, pacing and technique than any other stroke. Work on getting used to swimming again. Then, maybe in another two months, do that mile *** again.
As I said in the other breaststroke thread, make sure you have a good song catalog in your head.
