I'm 55, in reasonable shape. I bike, walk, swim, lug my 21-pound grandson around!
I have begun to get serious about swimming and have been in the pool six days a week. Fellow swimmers at Masters this morning adviused that six days a week might ust be too much and suggested back off to every other day.
Anyone have exeperiences to share in this regard?
Thanks,
Mark

Mark My only warning would be : make sure you don't get tired of training that much.
Many newbies start like lions, to later quit the pool like bored cats.
I see nothing wrong with training 6times a week. In fact, from a general health point of view, while exericising twice or 3 times/week is enough to trigger health improvement, I think the ideal sport prescription would be 5-6 workouts a week, 30-45 min in length, easy to moderate intensity (Murphy et al. 2006)
But be careful not to get bored. It may be safer to begin with 3 or 4 workouts/week, to later add 2-3 sessions when you're sure you're not going to quit.
