I'm 55, in reasonable shape. I bike, walk, swim, lug my 21-pound grandson around! I have begun to get serious about swimming and have been in the pool six days a week. Fellow swimmers at Masters this morning adviused that six days a week might ust be too much and suggested back off to every other day. Anyone have exeperiences to share in this regard? Thanks, Mark

Thanks, Mark My only warning would be : make sure you don't get tired of training that much. Many newbies start like lions, to later quit the pool like bored cats. I see nothing wrong with training 6times a week. In fact, from a general health point of view, while exericising twice or 3 times/week is enough to trigger health improvement, I think the ideal sport prescription would be 5-6 workouts a week, 30-45 min in length, easy to moderate intensity (Murphy et al. 2006) But be careful not to get bored. It may be safer to begin with 3 or 4 workouts/week, to later add 2-3 sessions when you're sure you're not going to quit.
