What is your ideal weight?

There seems to be as many opinions and misinformation floating around about personal weight that I thought we might share and perhaps open our minds a bit. Here are the questions that I feel will provide useful info: Age Sex Height Present weight range (many people vary 3-4 lbs over a day) Ideal weight range for optimum health (your opinion) Ideal weight range for optimum swimming performance What steps are you taking, or will you be taking, to lose or gain the weight difference between present & optimum. I'll start 54 M 6'1" 220-224 190-194 182-188 Drastically cut down drinking & desserts; resume active training

I'm finding this very interesting (even though I start to wonder if I should be a Sumo wrestler reading some of the posts), hope it is opening eyes a bit. It would be good if anyone makes a significant move towards (or away from) their target weights to self report on how they feel, effects (if any) on their swimming etc. Also, just for curiousity, next time you see your doctor, tell him or her what you weigh now & ask what they feel your ideal weight range for health should be. As well, approach your swim coach (if you don't have one, then a respected swimmer) and tell them what your current weight is & ask what they feel it should be for optimum swimming performance. Appreciation to everyone who has contributed so far and exhortations to the rest of you to chip in (why did I get a sudden desire for french fries while writing that last bit?).
