There seems to be as many opinions and misinformation floating around about personal weight that I thought we might share and perhaps open our minds a bit. Here are the questions that I feel will provide useful info:
Age
Sex
Height
Present weight range (many people vary 3-4 lbs over a day)
Ideal weight range for optimum health (your opinion)
Ideal weight range for optimum swimming performance
What steps are you taking, or will you be taking, to lose or
gain the weight difference between present & optimum.
I'll start
54
M
6'1"
220-224
190-194
182-188
Drastically cut down drinking & desserts; resume active training

OK, forum mounty, here goes.

I have cut out all chips and ice cream lately, although I still eat a bag of flamin' hot Cheetos every week, can't resist those. I have contemplated reducing beer intake but feel that would adversely impact my mental health and all-around well being.
I have lost 6 pounds so far this year by dropping 3 days of swimming a week and added running and 2 conditioning classes (aka - one hour of sheer terror) on those three days.
Of course, with four fantastic college football games on tomorrow (GO DAWGS, Heels, Horns and Nittany Lions)I suspect chips, beer and hot dogs might be my three food groups for the day.
