Could someone PLEASE tell NBC that this is SWIMMING, as in 'in water' as in there ain't much happening ABOVE the water, as in MORE FREAKIN UNDERWATER SHOTS!!!!
And someone stop goosing Gaines. What is UP with the yelping?
She, too funny! Did you tape it? Was that 100 lb Japanese guy there? He is amazing.
Don't you hate it when there are so many channels you spend the equivalent of 1 night's TV (5 hours) trying to fill up your DVR? And when you finally do find something on swimming, you don't get that channel!!!!
We just switched to dish and get the Chiller channel - now I can tape PROFIT!!!!!
On CNN.com it is in the yellow banner at the top about the eat off for this hot dog contest. Thank god we have our priorities right on July 4th. We couldn't get the prelims of the 200 IM (although they did show it at midnight on the track and field trials) but we can get the hot dogs. Next year, I'm looking forward to the chaw spitting contest being simulcast on all the networks.
People who hardly do anything in practice but can blow away everyone at meets.
D:'t bother to train hard leading up to it. Well, at least, he swam crappy. But, I have to remember that these people couldn't handle the 200 fly, 400 IM and distance frees like I could and will again.
I swim in a small high school pool that is a favorite for the blue hair ladies group first thing in the morning. One morning I walked out to find one lane empty and just as I was about to jump in one of the lifeguards told me that I should move to a different lane because lane 3 was Mrs. Rogers' lane. I couldn't believe it, but complied. As it turned out the lifeguard was Mrs. Rogers' granddaughter.
So they don't show more swimming trials coverage, but on ESPN they have "Hot Dog Eating Contest" for 2 HOURS!:doh::doh:
I don't know about ESPN but here in Canada we have their equivalent, TSN (The Sports Network, I believe) who believe (I guess they know their audience) that Poker is a sport. I never really noticed how developed those players' finger muscles were (from lifting the corners of two, count them, two, cards at once, to take a peek).
Does anyone know in which Olympics will Poker be introduced?
Why do elite athletes make equipment errors at Olympic Trials?
Some athletes might have missed out on making the US Olympic team because they made equipment errors
1) Suits
experiment and figure out which suit you swim fastest in,
then get real used to racing in it
Scott Spann switched from jammers or legskins to the LZR hineck
he went from being a distant contender to a serious threat
I don't know which suit is the fastest suit
We all know which suit has been promoted the best and distributed to elite athletes.
I am intrigued with the Blue Seventy and have see swimmers make remarkable improvements wearing them.
2) Goggle Straps go under caps
Long Goggle straps must be cut
3) Wear a wrinkle free racing cap
4) No jewelry
5) Girls with long hair
that bulge in the back of your cap isn't as streamlined
Long wet hair adds weight
Weight adds drag
Drag makes you go slower
Follow Dara's lead, she keeps her hair short for a reason.
6) Experiment with longer nails
they increase your hands surface area
making each pull slightly more powerful
a more powerful pull makes swimmers faster
Last rant, Phelps is killing his opponents with his SDK
especially off the last turn in several races
I'm sure he'll use it tonight in his IM
Why aren't more coaches and swimmers working on?
1) SDK speed
2) SDK speed endurance and
3) Breath Control / Mental toughness
coaches just need to add a little instruction to set assignments
"take 4, 6, 8 or 10 SDKs off your last turn"
