  • Phelps said in one of his many interviews this week that Bowman is in charge of his strategy which is great. But, when didn't my age group coach or college working on my strategy. It is annoying to see great coaches like Bob Bowman and Eddie Reese and think, if only I had a coach like that in my corner instead of coaches in other people's corners who didn't make the effort that I did. That is my rant. That felt better.

She, too funny! Did you tape it? Was that 100 lb Japanese guy there? He is amazing. Don't you hate it when there are so many channels you spend the equivalent of 1 night's TV (5 hours) trying to fill up your DVR? And when you finally do find something on swimming, you don't get that channel!!!! We just switched to dish and get the Chiller channel - now I can tape PROFIT!!!!! No. We passed on taping it. Although I will say that hubby and I watched a few minutes of it. It was sort of like WWF meets KFC. There were also 2 anorexic type gals who were competitors. They did not get much air time so I don't know too much about them other than their method of training seems to be to starve themselves for life to be nice and hungry for the event. Are you referring to Kobayashi I think? He's actually a pretty impressive guy. He's fit and I saw a show on him a while back that outlined his training routine. I think he may have won the contest today. At least he was ahead when we flipped.

So they don't show more swimming trials coverage, but on ESPN they have "Hot Dog Eating Contest" for 2 HOURS!:doh::doh:
  • AAAAAAAAAAAAARRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGGHHHHHHHH OK, in my local area (Montgomery Co, Maryland) there are a total of NINE public pools that have LCM capability. Now of those NINE pools, you know how many actually provide LCM swim time? TWO. One that provides only 2 hours from 8:30 to 10:30 M-F and the other than only provides 3 lanes and is usually very crowded (and that's saying something with LCM). Sigh.

It p's me off when I'm making progress on my laps and a heavy smoker gets into the lane next to me...Or someone who smells like a deep fryer or someone who splashed a bottle of perfume or cologne on themselves and then jumps in.

Maybe you could convince the lifeguards to put up signs requesting that people shower before getting in. All of the public pools here have them. Not that everyone complies, but most do.

We have those signs up too:( I think some people think that if they took a shower at home (even when they put perfume, etc) that they area complying. We do have a sign up in the gym that requests people to take it light on the fragrances, so I might mention adding that on the pool and shower doors. thanks!
  • Olympic pool races are over and I'm jonesing for more It's our last week of long course training here and I'm not ready for it to be over.
  • It's our last week of long course training here and I'm not ready for it to be over. Me too. I am going to miss my 6AM long course practice every morning. But, my Sunday practice will be at a long course pool til mid September or whenever it gets too cold to have practice outside. I so need to move to Florida, Arizona, Cali or even Texas where there are a lot of long course pools.
