How great to beat your competition in a drag suit while they are in fastskins.
I won one masters LC nationals in the 50 m fly in a $20 dolphin suit - while flanked by gals in fastskins.
But I do wonder, is there a huge difference between summer leaguers and masters wearing fastskins at local/ dual meets . . . I remember attending my first masters meet in '02 or '03 and being amazed at the number of swimmers in pricey fastskins. I really thought everyone would be in poly suits. :joker:
I do feel for those kids who have a rude awakening when they get older . . .
The Noodle instructor would put on this coma music and drag us down, so the next day I tried to switch her radio to a high energy rock station, unfortunately it would not pick it up.
Another pool where I occasionally swim, the Noodle Instructor puts on bad 70s-80s disco- I almost drowned from laughing while swimming. Picture a pod of 12 400+ pounders aqua dancing to Village People's YMCA

He’s 0.4 seconds off in the 100 free, 1.0 in the 200 and 1.1 in the 100 fly.
Unfortunately this weekend the 200 Free and 100 Fly are back to back, so he’ll most likely need to go for the 100 Fly in prelims and the 200 Free in finals.
Beth, yes he is swimming at the State Meet in Athens.
And my apologies for hijacking the thread by not ranting. Maybe someone will throw up at the meet or toss a noodle in the pool and I’ll have something to rant about.
Ah yes, I should also add good luck wishes--hope he has a successful meet and no lawn mowing duty! :cheerleader:
Also, aren't admins allowed some slack about non-rants in a rant thread? ;)
So, I guess I won't mention that I told Brenna (4) that if she swims in the meet tomorrow (her first ever), I'd take her shopping!!!
I gave my kid (6) a huge ice cream after her first meet. I'm impressed your kids can swim in a meet at that age. I'm a neglectful mother who didn't teach her kids to swim early. Little kids need encouragement and mini-bribes. But they don't need fastskins!
May I steer the direction of this thread back towards ranting. And consequently rant about water that is too hot. The pool that I have the misfortune to swim in at the moment is getting more and more 'recreational'. As such, they're keeping the water ridiculously warm - over 30C (86F for you imperial types), even though they claim it's only heated to 27C. No way! I fear I'll have a heat stroke if I swim too much. I guzzle two bottles of water during a 40 min swim. It's going to cost me $250 to break my contract with the gym that the pool belongs to.
