Just wondering how other people plan their practices.
I consider my self one of the luckiest masters coaches around. I finish with my team at 9AM on most days, then I scoot over to Walnut Creek where I get to swim with WCM and their resident Doctor of Swimology Kerry O'Brien. Never a dull moment in one of his workouts, where does he get this stuff?!?!
But seriously folks the last thing I want to do is swim a practice I've just spent three hours explaining to 75 or so swimmers. It's great to go a swim a fresh practice, thanks to the Walnut Creek folks for being so welcoming.

Brian- If I were one of your swimmers and knew that you would then be swimming with Kerry, anytime you came up with an especially nasty ('challenging' in coach-ese) workout, I'd be on the cellphone to make sure that you experience a similar (or worse 'very challenging') workout.

I've often wondered if there wasn't something like that going on. Kerry's practices have been very "challenging" lately.

Three days a week I swim a workout planned by a coach. The other two to the three days, I swim a modified version of Mel's workouts from this website (I print them out the night before and take them to the pool with me). Sometimes I branch out to other on-line sources as well.
