Had my 120 dollar Oakley's in my TYR goggle case stolen from my backpack while I was taking a shower tonight. The pool manager is going to check his camera DVR for the lobby and entryway to see if the crook was dumb enough to walk out with them exposed. God this makes me mad. The only positive thing about this is that I did not catch the guy in the act...I might be in the pokey right about now. You are all probably much wiser than me, since most of you are older( I'm 31) :p, but you've got to keep your stuff locked up ALL the time. Too lazy to earn something themselves so they take it from somebody else...wastes of precious oxygen IMHO.
Sorry for the rant but I just had to vent some frustratrion.
scyfreestyler... glad you got your glasses back! And they look like nice ones too.
Running friends keep telling me they're worth the $ you pay but I tend to buy my sunglasses in drugstores and anywhere I find them cheap (recently got two pairs for $5 at a flea market!). But I also buy cheap umbrellas... after a $30 umbrella blew inside out during a heavy rainstorm and broke. :(
One day, after I'd finished a swim and some girls on the Y swim team had gone in for their practice, I noticed how few seemed all that worried about their belongings, leaving backpacks strewn on the floor of the locker room. One woman noticed a girl's ipod just lying on the floor. Fortunately, she was honest. She took it to the desk for safekeeping, leaving a note to that effect which she placed where the ipod had been left, so that the girl would know where it had been taken.
I've heard of locks getting broken at my Y, though, so I suppose the girls' strategy might actually, in a very weird way, make sense. Maybe they think the thieves will head for the lockers where the REALLY valuable stuff is. ;)
