OK, OK, so this isn't really a swimming topic... ...sorry... ...did anyone who watched American Idol last night notice David Hasselhoff in the audience toward the end of the show, with tears in his eyes, looking strangely like Sophia Loren? (Was it just my imagination?) ...aw ::SNAP:: they just showed it on the Today Show. (haha laugh-laugh)

I definitely watch lots of gameshows/reality TV. I've gone through phases of addiction with Jeopardy and Millionaire, but my current obsession is The Apprentice. But my all-time favorite thing to watch is the National Spelling Bee! Way back in middle school, I was obsessed with the spelling bee, and I've been watching it every year ever since I can remember.

This morning at my office's Friday morning weekly review, Idol was a big topic. There are 39 women (it's a women's shelter) (4 work after hours and don't attend this meeting) and 3 men. None of the men watched the program. 25 of the women watched.

What I don't understand, it was obvious Kat was wearing a 'belly band' but her designer claims this is not true. What, is Kat without a belly button? How about how she kept her boyfriend a secret. Now there's true love. Guess he loves that big butt. She had so many wardrobe 'mishaps' (none as exciting as Jackson's), trying to squeeeeeze into those oufits, I understand she tore quite of few of them. She was just eye candy (to some anyway).

  • Originally posted by Swimmer Bill I love Jeopardy because Meg was on the show a couple years ago, and she looked FAB-U-LOUS in her blue dress!! Aw Bill, you're so sweet! Of course, the whole story with that dress is that the first thing my friends in the locker room said when they heard I was going to be on the show was "You're not going to wear your regular clothes, are you?" So my teammates Tita and Kregor took me shopping, and Kregor actually picked that dress out. It was the lucky one -- I won wearing that one! Next outfit, not so lucky.
  • Originally posted by knelson Hey that's cool, Meg! I've been in the contestant pool two separate times for Jeopardy, but never got called to be on the show. I was on Millionaire when Regis was hosting, though (I only won $1,000). I can tell it was a few years ago because Alex still has a mustache! Thanks Kirk! Yep, it was a few years ago. It was in 2000. It was a lot of fun, but also the most terrifying experience of my life. My knees literally knocked together the whole time I was playing. It was long enough ago that they had not doubled the dollar amounts, so I didn't win as much money as I could have. I won $5200 the first game and the game I came in second I won a trip to the Bahamas. That was when they still gave away prizes for second and third. Congratulations on being on Millionaire! My brother passed the test, but was never picked for the show. I think Regis was probably easier to talk to than Alex. Alex scared me! But he was actually pretty nice to me.

He did well enough that he was invited to be on the Ultimate Tournament of Champions thing they did last year. He did really well there, too, making it to the quarter finals and winning somewhere around $70K all told. If I ever make it on I'll do my best to give a plug for Masters swimming :)
  • YEs, after the first season, my husband was watching an interview and could not believe he was British. He does us well! I guessed what was going on when they put him in the same room as the shooter.

A friend of mine has been on a few game shows herself. One being Wheel of Fortune and the other being The Price is Right. Neither worked out especially well which was odd considering her level of intelligence. She now refers to "Wheel of Fortune" as "Wheel of Misfortune".

I had a similar experience, but fortunately, I made it through my Food Network show with no wardrobe malfunctions... :)
