I would bet he can't hang around Sunday for the 100 and swam it like a time trial. His time will count for top ten rankings for the year and would have counted as a record (had he broken the existing one of 47.54). The split would have been recorded whether he flipped or did an open turn (but in most cases would be faster with an open turn). I believe he did something similar a few years ago at long course Nats.
