And, how big of a spectrum does the floaty crowd represent of USMS membership? I dare say it's a much smaller percentage than the much maligned 20% who actually take full advantage of USMS by competing.

I don't make a habit of judging content by a picture on the cover. For example...you have a seagull as your avatar....
Actually, from what I've heard, it is a pigeon.
Hey Bill,
My post was probably a bit to simplistic.....which defines me pretty well in general! What I see and would guess would work best with two publications is if they did create their own "personalities".
With yours....it seems appropriate (and seems to) be aimed at the broader/more diverse base of USMS participants.
With Swimming World.....it would appear (and I would hope) that it is a bit more focused on the competitive side of USMS.
Room and something for everyone hopefully.
By the way Geek.....John has inside info that you are in fact a HUGE noodling fan and frequent the many water aerobics classes offered in your area.....noodle, wings, fins, man bikini all in tow.

Yeah, it's true, but the real hidden secret is that gull80 is the instructor and he wears a full body lycra suit, with leg warmers, while leading the class. The highlight of the class is when all participants blow water through our noodles on him while he performs his rendition of What A Feeling from Flashdance, forming a perfect aquatic noodle fountain about him.
Does silicon float?
Implants are now generally saline, which I believe is neutrally bouyant.
I am however willing to volunteer to help participate in a hands on float test of any willing implantees vs. a control group of "naturals" to fully explore this theory.

The reason for mentioning Katz was to shed a little ray of light on the poorly conceived point -- brought to us by people who haven’t even read the article -- that no serious swimmer does water aerobics. Katz is a serious swimmer. She does water aerobics.
I believe this thread began with a criticism of the cover photo. C'mon, they're wearing flotation vests. I've yet to see training wheels on the cover of Cycling.

I'd be a serious noodler also if they'd put cup holders on the floaty belts.
You going to worlds at Stanford? I live nearby so let's make a deal.
I'll get a floaty belt made with cup holders if you will wear it in the warm up pool and allow photos to be taken. As a token of my gratitude for being a good sport I will even allow you to take the belt home with you (I am sure Gull will want one as well but be warned, it will be patented...no unauthorized replications). Perhaps we can use your photo in the next USMS issue that deals with aqua aerobics.
:D

OUCH!
So now because I don't think a picture of water aerobics belongs on the cover of our magazine I'm branded a bigot and holier than thou.
