What do YOU need to do to have a major swimming breakthrough?

One topic of great interest to us all is "What do you need to do to have a major swimming breakthrough?" "What do you need to do to significantly improve your swimming times in the days and weeks left in THIS season?" What I'm looking for are specific, nitty gritty type suggestions. I think it's really easy to fall into a rut, to just show up and go through the motions rather than seizing the moment while we train. Does anyone have any thoughts on what we need to do to significantly improve? I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss Ande

  • What do I need to do? 1) Work on my kicking - as much as I hate it, I HAVE to start working my legs a lot more than hardly ever - this is gonna be the hardest thing I need to do. 2) Adjust my eating habits even more - in progress 3) Find a coach, not just someone who posts a workout on a board. I compete, I love to compete so I have to try and find a coach that will help me compete better - in progress 4) Swim with a purpose - not just do the board but actually have a goal for each session whether it's breathing, SDKs, stroke, turns, etc - in progress 5) Swim more often than 2-3xweek - in progress 6) Address my lack of flexibility - after Nats, I start Yoga 2x week.
