One topic of great interest to us all is
"What do you need to do to have a major swimming breakthrough?"
"What do you need to do to significantly improve your swimming times in the days and weeks left in THIS season?"
What I'm looking for are specific, nitty gritty type suggestions.
I think it's really easy to fall into a rut,
to just show up and go through the motions
rather than seizing the moment while we train.
Does anyone have any thoughts on
what we need to do to significantly improve?
I thought this would be an interesting topic to discuss

Let me sum this up in one word -- you need CHANGE in order to have any type of swimming breakthrough.
CHANGE something your stroke (hopefully for the better) - but really change it - don't just talk about it. Do 4 Fly kicks after every wall in every single practice.
CHANGE your body - lose 20 pounds, not 2 --
CHANGE your workouts - don't just add yardage - add quality. Only count your yards done at race pace or faster every week - I bet there are many good swimmers at 0 for many weeks
CHANGE your routines - don't expect different results from doing the same things
