Well, I just got back from my first ever masters swim meet (and my first swim meet in 20 years), the UBC Masters Meet, which was held on November 20th in beautiful Vancouver, BC.
I was in the 35-39 age group. Below are my goal times, my actual times and my placing (all races were short course METRES):
50 free - 30.5 - 28.58 - 3rd place
50 fly - 36.0 - 32.28 - 1st place
50 *** - 40.0 - 39.30 - 1st place
I was very pleased with my free and fly times, but particularly my fly time. I was so giddy and excited when I saw my time that I burst out with wild yelping and fist pumping. It was soooo embarassing!
Anyway, I'm hooked and I can't wait to go to my next meet.

Well, I'm 36 years old now. I started competitive age group swimming when I was 9 and I quit when I 17. I just joined masters swimming in September after a 19 year "retirement" from competitive swimming.
Here are my career best times for those events, which were achieved when I was 16:
50 Meter SC Free - 26.1
50 Meter SC Fly - 30.0
50 Meter SC *** - 35.9
