I usually wear sweeds and they are great becasue I go through goggles rather quickly and they are nice because they are inexpensive, but as my highschool swim season has just begun I find my goggles falling off my face as I dive. I have been swimming for aobut 6 years and am terrible at diving, but have usually managed to keep my goggles on while I swim. Any ideas for a good pair of goggles...or possibly improving the dive? I cant have them fall off or leak because I wear contacts and swim the 500 and am afraid I might lose a contact and I dont want to have to stop swimming in the middle (how embarassing).
if your biggest concern is your goggles falling off on your start (especially in the 500!), instead of switching brands, try wearing them under your cap for meets. hopefully you can continue to wear the same goggles for both meets and practice (i personally hate switching back and forth between meets and practice). i also wear contacts, so i know where you're coming from in being worried about your goggles. i've worn my goggles under my cap for years, and its rare that i lose them. occasionally one side might get a little water in it, but not usually enough to cause problems during my race...
and on your contacts- keep a spare pair (or even 2 pairs) in your swim bag, just in case you would lose a contact. that seems like common sense, but you'd be surprised at the number of people that swim with their contacts that don't show up to meets with spares! i even have extra ones for when i'm at practice, just in case (but i'm blind as a bat without them- driving home would be interesting!)
