It's a matter of habit for me. When I run, I prefer something I can both drink and pour over my head. Gatorade poured over my head would be sticky and attract bugs--and if the heat warps my brain too much and I'm carrying gatorade, I might forget and use it as I would water. In the pool of course, there's plenty of water and no need to pour any over my head, ;) but I still go for the plain stuff! After working out, I sometimes have juice or gatorade, but then I know I'll only be drinking it.
