Metatarsal Stress Fracture

I planned to swim at Nationals this year in Fort Lauderdale but was just diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture in my right foot... I still want to swim and try not to put much pressure on my right foot. Does anyone have experience competing with this type of injury? Also, this is typically a runner's injury and I have not run at all since last summer. Can this be caused from just pushing off the wall repeatedly?

In 1958 I had a green fracture in my ankle, two days before the 1958 Commonwealth games (I had stepped in a pot hole). They injected me with novocaine and wrapped my ankle with a bandage for support. I had also twisted my knee it had swollen like a balloon, they wrapped it also. I swam the 110 yards free, the medley relay, the 880 fr relay, no problem just a little slower than normal. It took about six weeks to heal. George
