Metatarsal Stress Fracture

I planned to swim at Nationals this year in Fort Lauderdale but was just diagnosed with a metatarsal stress fracture in my right foot... I still want to swim and try not to put much pressure on my right foot. Does anyone have experience competing with this type of injury? Also, this is typically a runner's injury and I have not run at all since last summer. Can this be caused from just pushing off the wall repeatedly?

Thanks for the reply. Doctor did not mention Type I or II.. just said- 6 weeks to heal. Once I'm back in the water (soon, I hope) I'll have to check out my turns and see if I can change the way I hit the wall. Thanks again for the information.
