Shammies

Hey everybody! Alright this is kind of a weird question and I hope I don't gross anyone out. I got a shammy for Christmas (LOVE IT) and I've been using it for about the past 3 monthes maybe 4 times a week. I ring it out as best I can, and store it (in the orginally little plastic tube) damp like the package says. However, lately it has been smelling kind of funny. Are you supposed to wash them? I have never washed mine, never thought I had too, but then it started smelling. It smelled when I first got it, and it's pretty much the same odor only a little stronger. Thanx! ~Kyra p.s. Hope that's not to gross, of a weird question.

Actually, Aquageek, the chamois only gets stinky and yucky if you neglect it. If you treat it like any other towel, squeeze the water out of it and let it dry out in an airy space it will be just fine for a long time. If anything, I tend to keep misplacing mine, since they're not very big. I used the car-wash type synthetic chamois before on cars, and this one works a lot like it. Wipe, squeeze out, wipe squeeze out... it takes off and absorbs a lot more water off of you than a regular towel, much more absorbent then a regular terry towel, and if you squeeze it hard enough it feels almost dry. I love using it, at meets and after practice. Any time I don't have to lug around a big drippy waterlogged towel is a bonus for me!
