I am an evening swimmer 8:30-10:00
Our outdoor long course pool opened, but is only going to be used for am (6:00-7:30) workouts for the next month. I love swimming outdoors and long course so I thought, "I'll do it- I'll swim in the morning". So I did today. Now it is about 1pm and I am fading fast. I can't keep my train of thought. I just put my head down to get a little micro-sleep and noticed two different socks poking out from my pant bottoms (One all black anfd one black with red flowers). I was just curious what the break down of amers/lunch timers/pmers was. Also, any advice on how to get up in the morning?
I swim at 5:30 am til 6:45 ( the swim goes til 7 but I have to get ready for work) I swim Mon-Tues, Thurs, Fri at this time. It is enough for me right now. There are more swims I can do once I am in better shape. Trust me my body needs the rest.

I also swam as a age grouper evening ( after school ) in the summer long course 7am-9am and then again from 8pm -9pm. In HS from 6:30am -8:00am and again last class till about 4:00. I stopped swimming my Jr. yr. I like to sleep now I figured I put in my morning early in life.
I now swim with the age groupers (again) from 5:00pm -6:00pm M, T, TH we get in an avg. of 1800 -2000 yds each day. I may go to the 'Y' on Sunday usually late afternoon.
I swim M W F at 12 noon short course, Tuesday 8AM long course, Sat 9:30 short course, and Sunday 8AM long course. In the summer I swim at 8 AM long course several day a week. So great to be retired. With ski season approaching, it will be mostly weekends in Denver...who wants to stand in a lift line and a couple of short workouts during the week at Breckenridge at 8,500 ft...gasp gasp.
When I was teaching in GA I only swam at night if I was not stuck in Alpharetta traffic! It took me an hour to get to Dynamo or Mt View so I just gave up! Did not like getting home at 9PM at night.
I swim evening with the age group team M-W-F 6-8. Morning with Masters group Tu-Th and sometimes Friday 5:30-6:45, Saturdays 11-12. Some weeks I make all 6 and some weeks I get 4-5.
I feel best after a morning workout though.

M-W-F 5-7am SCY.
Amen to the traffic ruining getting to Dynamo or Mt View!
Wow, many of you are swimming 2 hours a day!!!
I swim at night 8-9 pm T and TH. I put in two more hour sessions on my own during the week.
We share the pool with the "high school maintenance group" -- kids trying to make our very competitive age group club.
I can;t stand swimming that late at night!!!! Bad for me, bad for the family, bad for the marriage. But I have hung in there for 3 years...what else can I do?:)
NOT a morning person, however, masters swimming is 5:30 to 6:45am.....some mornings I think I dreamt about swimming, THEN I wake up and realize my workout is DONE! YAY!.....and yes it took me about 6 months to get used to swimming at this hour. Now our Sat morning practice starts at 7:00am and I feel like I am sleeping in. The plus side as a previous swimmer noted, you DO get to spend more time with your family and friends in the evenings.
One other note, the first few months, I ended up taking naps in my car during lunch......now I just go to bed at 8:30pm.
