Does anyone have experience with stretchcordz short belt (or long belt) when lap swimming is impossible? I swim at the local Y which has a sorry lap swim schedule, including no lap swimming on Saturdays, can you believe it? I have considered using stretchcordz for continuous swimming in place during rec swim, at which time they have a rope across the width of the pool. Would appreciate suggestions.

Stretchcordz short belt (or long belt) the beauty of these things is that you can go to any backyard pool and do a work out. It may not be perfect but any water time helps . When I have used them in a 25 meter pool I would swim to within a couple of feet of the end and swim in place for 10 or fifteen minutes. That is almost full out pace.

Stretch cords are GREAT!! They will give you a very intense, quality workout. I did close to lifetime best times after training with them at the end of the season last year! You can use them to build speed by doing "blasts" where you go all out for a short time....or you can build endurance by trying to stay in one place with a constant tension on the cord for an extended amount of time. Make sure you are warmed up before you use them.
In 199something I WAS a breaststroker and then hurt my knee trying to snowboard! I was suddenly a backstroker. I couldn't do walls so I did the normal sets (in my own lane) with everybody else. If we were doing 50s I would take 30 strokes, 100s 70 etc.. I added more strokes than I would actually take because I didn't have any turns or pushoffs to start.
I swam life best times in the 100 and 200 (1:03 and 2:16) at Nationals. It really was all stretchcordz. I swear by 'em. Plus, they're also great for tapering.

Wow, I must be spoiled - my Y always has at least two lap lanes. And I rarely have to circle swim.
Thanks for your info, repliers. You have encouraged me.
I have ordered a Stretchcordx short belt. Now they will probably yell at me at the Y for trying to take off the starting block.
I am very interested in stretchcords now. What lengths are ther , which kind would I need to get to be able to make it with a cord to the end of the 25-meter pool?Any links and advice are appreciated,
