I loved the smaller town feel and the active vibe the town emits. From what I can tell it's absolutely beautiful. Why wake up in the morning and look at a parking lot when you can see mountains. The winter was the main deterrant. I don't do winter well.
I love being outside and being able to do outdoorsy active things... I'd love to VISIT in the winter and ski though ...

Funny story relating to the Michigan/Michigan State thing. I coach my son's football team. We had a kid move to the area - 12 years old - from Michigan. When we met him, one of the other coaches says "We'll just call you Wolverine". He gets all serious and looks at the coach and says "Make that Spartan". It was the most serious thing the kid said or did all season!
How about Faculdade de Medicina de Itajubá, Minas Gerais, Brazil. No swimming then. However I did swim B team at McCallie School, Chattanooga , Tn 1967-68 Up until last year all my swimming was skiing related, scuba diving, snorkeling and just goofing around. Take care, billy fanstone
