I echo the Division III sentiments...though the team has vastly improved since I was there (connection?) It really was a great way to continue competing in the sport I love, for which I wasn't quite Division I quality.
And, no, I am not pleased that DU won the NCAA hockey championship (again).
See you all at SCY Nats!
Did you haveJohn Lee at Colorado College? He is a philosophy prof. He taught at Knox & then went to Colorado. I think he is still there. He screwed me over big time in Freud. I had an asthma attack & couldn't turn in my daily paragraph. I talked to him & he said okay for me to be two days late. when I turned the two writins in,hedown graded thembecause they were late. I took it to the honor board. He said we had never talked. I think he is a really fake!!!
To My Skanky, Drunken, Druggy, Hussy Daughter aka Heather :p,
I went to Diablo Valley College (CA) 88-89 and swam
Transferred to Calif. State Univ. Chico (Liberal Studies degree) and they cut the program (evil alien hussies!) grad 12/92
St. Mary's College (Moraga, CA) teaching credential 1994
Started swimming masters 2/93 when Kerry O'Brien (angel not alien!) plucked me from the lap lanes (because he liked my ***, stroke, that is)
Heather,
Just a thought. We're going to need some illustrations or photos of all the characters in our soap. Should we scan 'em? That ought to be pretty hilarious. Everybody has their own thoughts on who looks like what! :p

Glad you told us he liked your ***, stroke of course! My mind automatically assumed you meant something else!
I thought he plucked you out because you were drowning!
Graduated from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte (UNCC) in Charlotte North Carolina in 1991 with a BA in Economics. I did not swim for the school. My swimming career peaked when I was about 12-13 years old when I held the 4th fastest 50 free in the state. Can't remember the time but I don't ever recall breaking the 24 second barrier (yards of course) in all my years of trying. My "A" times were in the 100 IM and 50 free. The coach on the local AAU "A" team was an absolute jerk to the younger kids and I quit the year-round swimming at that point. Luckily, those years provided me with a tremendous amount of skill that I still carry with me today. I hope to get my six year old daughter into it in a couple of years.
Heather, I don't want to sound too sexist here, but given your history in English class, I have two questions:
A) Have you ever been given a speeding ticket?
B) Could you post a picture of yourself in your swimming suit?
Your teacher sounds like "that old man in that book by Nabokov."

Alas I did not have John Lee, nor do I know of him. But, then again I am a math geek, and didn't frequent those halls. Can't help you there, but I can empathize with instructors changing their ways!
That reminds me of an English teacher I had senior year in high school. Don't know why he decided that I was the coolest kid in his class, but he did. It was my first class of the day, but it was second period (I had late arrival). I was ALWAYS late, and I mean like 10 minutes late. I never turned one journal assignment in on time because he never cared when I turned them in. Frequently I'd turn in three or four at a time. I got a 10/10 on all of them. Everyone else got points deducted if they turned theirs in late. I also didn't read all of the books that year (most but not all, come on this was senior year) I'd write a half arsed paper about the book and get an A. I figured if I can not really do anything and get an A then why really try? I remember one time he got angry with everyone because it was clear no one had read the book and we were suppose to rewrite our papers, I definitely didn't read the book that time and still got an A. Ahhh ... the good old days ...

I just restarted to swim and the team I started, the Hilliard YMCA -Hurricane Masters - placed 21st in the small team division at YMCA Masters Nationals last week in Indy. Not bad for a team that only had two individuals swimming. (There were only 23 teams entered!)
