I saw someone post this picture in r.s.s. Apparently, the guy was upset that he wasn't let in a pool in Czechoslovakia where he was visiting (he's from the U.S.) Have you seen these kind of signs elsewhere? Not that I'm against them, I'm perfectly fine wearing the "approved" attire.

I'm just proud we won the war for everyone else and then didn't kill 7 million of our own citizens thereafter in a fury of blood lust.

Wow, GEEk, you are really behind.US won the war for evryone else?I wonder how that happened with very limited manpower from the states.Heather, I agree, the US had an impact, but it all stopped in Russia, we shed some blood - every 3rd(!!!)and that is Russia with population of over 200mln.) was killed. All my four grandparents went through that hell. Two of them lost their parents and my grandfather was still a kid and travelling under trains not to be noticed by Germans(he is still alive). On the 8th of May Germans announced to be surrending, the 9th of May is the official date of the end of war.It is our national holiday and is called Victory Day.We hold big ceremonies in all the cities and give respect to the veterans of that war(not many of them left now)
There are many of the factors of the victrory and by no means am I diminishing the US impact, but however funny it might sound the key to success was the Russian winter.Hitler was very arrogant and he thought he could trump as easily through Russia as he did through most of the Europe.German soldiers did not expect the sub 50 weather and their tanks were not built to last that, whereas Russians had theirs built with ability to withhold those temperatures.Tanks in those temperatures can just freeze up and not move, actually my father is a retired captain and he told me how they used to put fire under their tanks to get them moving in their training sessions in Siberia. So a lot of Germans were killed by the the weather itself and a lot of their materiel was disabled due to the same reason. Please, do not laugh but that is recognised to be one of the major reasons of the success to stopping Hitler.
