I saw someone post this picture in r.s.s. Apparently, the guy was upset that he wasn't let in a pool in Czechoslovakia where he was visiting (he's from the U.S.) Have you seen these kind of signs elsewhere? Not that I'm against them, I'm perfectly fine wearing the "approved" attire.

Actually in Europe there's a totally different approach to wearing shorts and briefs. While briefs here in America might raise the question of you being gay(that is the stupidest thing I have ever encountered) in Europe you will most likely look as an "outsider" wearing shorts at the beach or ESPECIALLY in the pool, because the majority will wear briefs.it is just a cultural thing.
I would disagree on that. When you go to the pool here you won't see many guys with briefs. Most people here wear shorts whether they are "serious" swimmers, lap swimmers or just came for the Jaccuzi or the solarium.
you will rather be an outsider with a brief or tight fitting shorts than with "normal" beach shorts. perhaps it's different where you come from.
but I can definitly understand the saftey question about wearing shorts. I stuck up twice in a 50m long slide while wearing shorts and that's definitly not funny when the slide is a tube so nobody can see you are stuck. :D
