Need Immediate Help Picking The Right Size And Model Fastskin Body Suit
Former Member
I was hoping that someone out there can help me pick out the right size fastskin II Body Suit to order off of the internet....According to the website I was perusing, you can NOT return them once they have been purchased (for any reason!). I have placed a link below (at the end of the message) for the type of suit I am currrently most interested in buying (It's a Fastskin II Male High-Neck Kneeskin body suit)....I heard from a friend that they may be too tight around the shoulders??....I don't want a Fastskin that goes all the way down to the ankles b/c someone told me that would be bad for breaststroke (and I am swimming 2 individual Medley events at Nationals)....Any opinions on that would be welcome also!!
Also tips on how to put them on.....Should they be dry at race time??....Can you put them in those rapid spinning machines you see at the YMCA to get the excess water out of them between races??...(or would that damage them in some way??)...And any other related opinions would be great!
I am 40 years old....I am 5'11'' and weigh around 194 pounds (and gradually losing)....I usually wear extra large size shirts (although I can fit into a large shirt...but a large feels a little too snug for me)....I am currently wearing a 34 size waist (pant size)...and I have around a 17'' neck size....I am a little thick in the midsection ...and around the neck and shoulders....I was thinking that the extra large size fastskin would probably be the best fit...(not too tight or restrictive??)....but then again I don't want a suit that fits too loosely either...(i.e. I want the suit to be relatively snug...but also feel relatively comfortable)....Also,
I need to order the suit sometime in the next few days to have it by Friday April 8th (when I leave for my first swim meet in 18 years)....Please help with any advise!
Here's the website for the fastskin I am currently the most intersested in (although I can be persuaded to change my mind)

Thanks Gull 80, Allen, and Breastroker (Wayne) for your very valuable input!......Your remarks are much appreciated as I know very little about the new high teck swim wear thats out there these days (it's a different world than the one I remember way bak when!!).....I wish I could find a store to try on a couple first but I live in a small town.....I "probably" would have to go to at least as far as Memphis (which seems to be large enough to find a good swim shop with the body suits) in order to try some on first....My problem is that I am a little on the chubby side for my height....Allen and Gull 80 are both around my height but y'all are both considerably lighter than me (and I'm guessing not as thick around the midsection)....Sounds like I have a similar chest size (around 40 - 42 inches or so I think??) and a similar neck size (at least compared to Gull 80).....My understanding is that the fast skin II body suits are less restrictive (i.e. tight) around the chest and neck than the original fastskin body suits...Is that correct?
I have also read reports that the fastskin body suits are best for 50's and 100's....and that a 200 may be the "limit" before they become less bouyant and actually start decreasing bouyancy (the reason given is that as they soak up water during the course of the race they loose bouyancy).....It would really be nice to have about 3 or 4 of these body suits so that you can put on a fresh dry suit for each race you swim in a day.....and maybe a pair or 2 of fastskin jammers for 200's or longer.....Too bad I'm not loaded....Hey Wayne...didn't you say you were a supervisor for some multimillion dollar powerplant? ....How bout throwing a couple mil my way? (j/k of course!!)......My last question has to do with the possibility of purchasing a second hand body suit that is still in good condition...(unless that sounds to gross if you know what I mean!)....Sounds like there are some swimmers out there that have bought and tried out one of these suits but didn't particularly care for them (and quite possibly are stuck with them even though they only used them once or twice)....If this is the case, let me know and I'll try negotiating a fair second hand price for a large Fastskin Highneck Kneeskin suit (preferably a Fastskin II)....Or maybe someone knows someone else who wants to get rid of thiers??......Please let me know. I think I am going to stick with a Fastskin Jammer for my meet on April 9th and 10th....then I will think about acquiring one of the body suits (new or slightly used) sometime between then and Nationals.
Please send me a PM if you want to negotiate....(I can't gaurantee that I will neccesarily buy your suit but I will give it very serious consideration if the price sounds reasonable enough and you can gaurantee me that you don't have some nasty rash problem or somethin similar).
Thanks again,
